No private chat on Quest 3s

I was able to have a private chat or a group chat with no issues. Now when I try a private or group chat my hand controllers go into ghost mode so I can't use my hands at all. I also noticed that there is a constant white line below each screen, the line has a dot on the left. If I click the dot, Meta comes up with my friends list. There is no "X" to hit to close this line.
