Question

Quest 3s won’t turn on or charge

I bought my quest new and it arrived today it was working fine out of the box but seemingly randomly a couple hours into use the screen went black and when I tried to charge it the light indicating charging wouldn’t light up when I plugged it in. I’ve tried a different cord and different outlets but nothing seems so be working. I’m sure it can’t be out of battery because it was at 50% before it black screened and said so in the app. When I tried rebooting it or factory rebooting it nothing happened no display no noises either and I literally just got it out of the box hours ago and set it up and it was working fine I can’t understand what I did wrong. The only thing I can think it could be was I set and reset my boundaries multiple times and I’ve heard of that messing with battery but I can’t understand why the charging light isn’t turning on when I plug it in or what to do about it. I’ve tried just leaving it on the charger for a couple hours but nothing changed.

Hello there, 

 

We understand you are having some issues with your Quest 3S having a black screen after using it for some time. Please try the steps below to help with your issue. 

 

  1. Ensure the headset is powered on (check if the power LED is on)
  2. If you have trouble powering the headset back on after performing a factory reset, hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
  3. If there appears to be no power, attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours.
  4. If, after 2 hours of charging, the headset has no power, see Battery & Fan Issues > Headset will not charge or is very slow charging below.
  5. If the headset powers on, but still no display is present:
  6. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
  7. Hard Reboot the headset
  8. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
  9. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
    1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Additionally, please try the following steps to ensure the sensors are working correctly too. 

 

  1. If the sensor is still detecting the user sometimes this may be enough to resolve the issue.
  2. To access the Auto-Sleep settings:
  3. Access the universal menu by pressing the Meta/Oculus button on the right Touch controller.
  4. Select the Quick Settings (the area with the clock) to view the device settings.
    Click the Settings button in the upper right corner.
  5. Select General.
  6. Select Power.
  7. Change the Sleep mode setting to anything longer than 15 seconds.

Even if you think the battery actually can't be the problem.....you might try blip charging.

Maybe you can bring up the charging LED again, if not......

Bring  the headset back to where you bought it and get a new one..... or reund it and buy another Quest.
