Rash with Quest 3

Anyone else getting a rash with the standard Quest 3 headset - supplied fabric facial interface?

Never had this before with Quest Pro, Pico or Index and have no (known) allergies, and have done nothing to make me sweat so it's not that.

Has happened after only a few short uses of the headset, on my forehead and under one eye.

You can get a silicon facial interface if the cloth gives an issue, some people had same issue with quest 2 cloth:

May not necessarily be allergy but possibly microabrasions since cloth is textured + sensitive skin

I replaced the facial interface with silicone and still have significant allergy to quest 3. I had to cover the inside of the headset all around the lenses with tape.  The soft strap and elite battery strap (rubber head cup bit) caused reactions on my scalp. I do have latex allergy but have no issues with Pico 4.
I accept my case is not the norm but having shipped quest 2 which caused allergies for loads of people you what have thought someone might have had the brains to say for quest 3, rather than using cheap nasty materials, let’s create something safe for everyone to use like our competitors seem to manage without any difficulty.

I just received a refurbished quest 3 as my previous one had a faulty mic. After play this refurbished one for just over an hour my eyes became very swollen and white and puffy all around the eye sockets. It took over 2 hours before it started to recede. This NEVER happened with my previous quest  3. They said they would  contact me in 24 to 48 hours and that I shouldn’t use the headset for now

If you contact support, they may provide you with a link to order a new silicone face cover. That’s what happened in my case, but unfortunately, it didn’t solve the issue. The same problem persisted. This is a significant design flaw that needs to be addressed.

The headset lacks proper stability—it either moves constantly if not adjusted tightly, or if you do adjust it for firmness, it presses too hard against your face, causing marks and rashes that can last for days. When used while lying down, the weight of the headset adds pressure, leaving indents on your skin.

It’s disappointing that the design hasn’t evolved to better protect users from these physical issues. I love the headset, but it's frustrating that it can’t be used comfortably for long periods without causing skin irritation. Until these issues are addressed, I don’t think headsets like this will replace computers or be suitable for work environments.

I just got my new meta quest 3. I have only used it 3 times and my new meta quedt 3 is burning my face with the toxic rubber they are using on the face mask goggles..

I need something to cover the toxic rubber with so I can play my meta quest 3 without burning my face.

How about that white medical doctors tape????

We purchased the quest 3 in February, just 3 months now. Our son has been experiencing severe breakouts on his forehead, nose, and cheeks. Now he is experiencing a severe rash on his right eye and around his mouth. He says the sweat runs down his mouth to around his mouth. My son has perfect skin before this headset, he just turned 12! He had baby skin! I'm very upset considering how much this headset cost! I paid almost $800 for the headset, warranty plus, and the elite head strap. I'm taking my son to the doctor tomorrow, and I'd like to know how I can contact Meta. Does anyone know? It's impossible to find on their website.

The link you provided does not help. The options available, do not include "issues with the face guard". There is no option to chat for support. What is the email to contact Meta for support?

I've never had any issues with my +1.5yo preordered Q3/512Gb stock facial interface.  I have noticed that some face pads have a little residue left over from the manufacturing process that can cause some irritation and smell a little funny.  I've found that the best fix for those is to gently wipe them with fragrance free baby wipes.  Good enough for sensitive baby's bottoms, lol!  Cheers.

I have the 3s. A mild itch when I started using it. Then bought the silicone interface. It did not help. From mild itch to full blown allergy. Applied ice pack to the swelling. I've stopped using the headset. Worried about the underside of my eyes, seems to have gotten older all of a sudden - ie sagging. It's been 2 weeks, it's gone down but still there.

Go with silicon. It's hypo allergenic. Allergies can develop due to constant exposure. Also keep cool and don't go overboard with tightening it. Just enough to keep it stable but not too much to squeeze your face.
