Question

Securing Admin Profile on the VR from access by supervised accounts.

I own a MetaQuest 3S. I have added my account as the device owner, and added a supervised child account to the headset, too.

I have secured both profiles with a PIN.

However, only the Admin account can unlock the device after it resumes from sleeping or power off.

How do I configure this so that the child account can access the device after reboot, and still protect the Admin profile with a PIN?

I found a similar query from a few years ago on the forum - Whilst it is marked as resolved, It offers no solution to this issue.

Thanks.

I have my daughter’s Quest 3 set up so my admin profile has a PIN but hers does not. After a reboot or sleep, she can go straight back into her profile without needing me to unlock the headset at all 😊.

Thanks for the swift support, @steve40.

I can't get that configuration to work. Once a PIN is set on my Admin account I can set three options - PIN to unlock headset, to access saved passwords, and to unlock restricted apps.

My profile is only protected if the option to protect unlocking the headset is selected.

This also restricts the headset to being unlocked by my account only, regardless of setting a pin for the child account.

Either it’s a difference (maybe a bug?) between the Quest 3 and Quest 3s (I have a Quest 3) or your software is out of date.

You can report the issue to meta through the headset Quick Settings > Report a problem.

The child account is an 11yo, in my case.
