Known Issue - V65 - V67 USB-C Debris/Water Warning

Not a solution - Marking for visibility

Known Issue

Hello everyone!

I have observed that a significant number of users are still encountering the USB-Debris error even after the V64 fix was distributed to everyone. Consequently, I have taken the initiative to inform the team and create this fresh post in order to distinguish between those who faced the issue in the previous post and those who are currently experiencing it on V65-V67.

We would greatly appreciate if everyone could please provide the following information:

  1. What's the full version number of your headset? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • Quick Settings > System > Software Update
  2. What's the full version number of your PC app? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • General > Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Is your PC app on PTC?
  4. Are you enrolled in Quest PTC?
  5. Any potential workarounds?
  6. Which headset is everyone using? Is this only happening with the Quest 3 currently, or is anyone experiencing the same thing on their Quest 2 and Pro

I'll do my best to keep you all updated as soon as I find out anymore information!

hello, i saw a very strange behaviour of my new, replaced quest3. For your info, as already written, my quest3 was repaired and is working without a USB-Debris error for some weeks. Suddenly, yesterday I saw the pop-up again. But, just the pop-up appeared. And the USB-C connector was NOT disabled, it works best. Very strange, I do not understand it. The pop-up seems to have no affect.

The pop-up came up, when the quest3 was connected by (the original) cable to the PC. Just a rear times I use the cable to test it with the MSFS flight simulator. Most of the time the "virtual desktop" is used, not the cable. So, my feeling tells me, that the combination of quest3 + original USB-cable is a problem.

I found that if I click the warning right away and unplug the cable, then plug the cable back in, the port works.  If I let the warnings pop up more than twice, it shuts off the port. Got some small update today (PTC v66 small update) that I can’t find any info on so maybe this is the one? I doubt it.  Very annoying.

Here’s what might be causing this issue 1. You might be sweating from intense game play like gorilla tag and more games and the sweat could be getting in the usb c port for your charger 2. If you leave your headset in mist places it will cause that 3. If your charger that came with your headset stopped working and your using a 3rd party charger stop using that because it might be caused from that and buy a new charger from the official meta quest store on the web browser

Why do y'all keep opening new threads and immediately marking it solved?

This is NOT standard ticketing practice.

Every power cycle, every plug in, every unplug - liquid debris warning. Clearly neither present.

Am I the only one wondering if they just have a garbage sensor? They can update the software all they want but if its a trash component its going to continue to screw up... from the... at *least* 4 "fresh" threads I see the same stuff. Everyone changes all the hardware, tried every software configuration etc- even new headsets multiple times.

If its the same sensor....

It is my belief it is a faulty port and they refuse to do a recall because of the costs involved. I will seriously reconsider another Meta headset. This is ridiculous. May go with the new Vive.

This issue has been going on since atleast January for me, currently have the Meta Quest 3 headset on and its still popping up even though there are no liquid or debris in ether the USB cable or in the charging port of the headset.
