Known Issue - V65 - V67 USB-C Debris/Water Warning

Not a solution - Marking for visibility

Known Issue

Hello everyone!

I have observed that a significant number of users are still encountering the USB-Debris error even after the V64 fix was distributed to everyone. Consequently, I have taken the initiative to inform the team and create this fresh post in order to distinguish between those who faced the issue in the previous post and those who are currently experiencing it on V65-V67.

We would greatly appreciate if everyone could please provide the following information:

  1. What's the full version number of your headset? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • Quick Settings > System > Software Update
  2. What's the full version number of your PC app? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • General > Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  3. Is your PC app on PTC?
  4. Are you enrolled in Quest PTC?
  5. Any potential workarounds?
  6. Which headset is everyone using? Is this only happening with the Quest 3 currently, or is anyone experiencing the same thing on their Quest 2 and Pro

I'll do my best to keep you all updated as soon as I find out anymore information!

ok, the new v66 update came and everything remained the same. It still shows USB is disabled due to water and I can't connect
to the pc with a cable. The biggest problem is connecting to the pc because I can't play any game on steem VR.
Nothing helps, changing the cable, restarting Oculus, restarting the PC, connecting to another PC, what should I do?

Okay, so I was part of the original thread with this issue from V62. Meta agreed to replace my headset just before V64 came out with a "solution". The issue was less frequent but still there. So I had to reapply for another RMA to return my headset. They were surprisingly quick on it and gave me another RMA to send my headset back. I was actually impressed on how fast it got there and the new one shipped out to me. It was all done within a week. The new refurbished headset is actually in surprisingly good condition too. So far I've had no water/debris issues. So the solution is to just send back you're defective headset for refurbished one.

Something to note though, unpair your controllers through the app before sending your headset in. I had a hell of a time to get them to pair with the replacement headset.

Sounds like a not so great thing, having to ship back your new headset to get a "refurbished" one that may or may not work.
But I get it, it's Meta and it's 2024 so it is of course very complicated to build a working USB port.

Today I did a factory reset on my oculus 3 and in the first 5 min of using it my charger charded just fine , as soon as the softwere finished updating to V66 the headset did not charge no more.

Also I submited to support a week ago rhey asked for my details and nothing happend untill today.

Can someone please help me?

The error returned with the new version of V67:
67.0.0.562.356.618485700.
In version V67:
67.0.0.504.356.676599631 I had no problems.
I'm not at PTC.

Two things I know for certain after dealing with this issue for several months…

1. I will not accept somebody else’s refurbished headset

2. I will never buy another Meta headset

Thank you for the heads up. 2 weeks with this problem and I will adopt your stance .. No refurbishment, not paying for another Meta product untill this injustice is resolved.

due to the fact that these things cost do much, does anyone think we could get a class action lawsuit to either get new (not refurbished) headsets or our original purchase price plus the cost of all the programs that we bought?
