Everybody, just to let you know please stop replying to this post, and I found a solution and I am late sorry about this but you just go to firewall and add a program and browse and then go in your oculus folder and go in the support folder and then search through the folders and you will find ovrserver, don’t worry there is not that much folders, hope this helps you!

i successfully connected my quest 2 through air link to my pc, though it was very laggy. then i disconnected and tried plugging ethernet into pc to see if it would be better. and after that i could not connect anymore, no matter what! with or w/o ethernet. tried a lot of different suggestions but nothing works! is meta gonna actually do something about it? at least test it and provide common solutions to this problem? on their "air link troubleshoot" page a case where pc not showing up is not even present! it just says "if your pc doesn't show up, disable and enable air link again" πŸ€¦β€

UPD: i fixed it by restarting meta quest link app on pc. to do that, go to settings -> beta -> restart meta quest link

Firstly let me update, I am now using a quest 3, my laptop is an Acer Helios Predator 18, 2024 model so more than powerful enough to handle most things thrown at it. using virtual desktop has no problems, in fact I'm using it now while writing this,

If then I bring up quick settings, and click on link, all I get is the search buffer, as it cannot find my laptop, just keeps buffering, infuriating as I'm connected already using in virtual destop,

If I disconnect virtual desktop and then press link, same thing happens, laptop cannot be found,

I'm using an Ethernet cable to connect to the router direct in the hope that helped, nope. I've tried rebooting both devices several times, and deleting apps and reinstalling them.

I've even tried deleting my old quest 2 from the account still nope, Any help you can give would be massively appreciated.

If you can connect your PC to your Quest 2 using a cable but are unable to find your Quest 2 via wireless on your PC, and likewise, the Quest 2 cannot detect the PC, please check whether the Ethernet cable plugged into your PC is connected to your router instead of your optical modem. If the PC’s Ethernet cable is connected to the optical modem, it will not be considered as being on the same local network as the devices connected to the router.

How to check if they are on the same local network:

1. On your PC, run the cmd command and type ipconfig to confirm your IPv4 address: aaa.bbb.c.ddd.

2. Check the IP address of your Quest 2 on the router: aaa.bbb.c.eee.

Ensure that the numbers in the a/b/c positions are exactly the same. Only then will the devices be considered on the same local network. The numbers in the d/e positions can be different, as they represent different IPs within the same local network.
