Quest 3 has no audio when connected to PC

I recently get the Quest 3, and for some reason I can't get the audio to come through my headset when it is connected to my PC using a link cable or AirLink. It shows as a device in the sounds settings and it is enabled in the audio Control Panel Playback section. I never had this problem on my Quest 2.

I have updated the drivers, tried disabling the Nvidia High Definition Audio driver. Any help greatly appreciated!

Note: This green audio bar next to the Oculus audio device stays at half-full whether the computer is playing or not. Not sure if that helps

Got my fix. Update the headset by cable.
Resetting it would prob work too, something within the update messed something up.

Alright, I got my audio back. Try these steps:

First, Open Task Manager and force stop a task called OVRService, This will completely shut down the Meta app.

Second, update Windows with any available updates. If you have a built-in GPU, make sure its drivers are updated right after all the windows updates (not before.)

Third, go to the Meta Quest app, choose Uninstall, then select Repair. Let it reinstall, then restart your PC.

Hopefully, this works for you too.

Here’s a smoother rewording:

Also, a tip for the future: if you're having trouble connecting to PC Link, try restarting the OVRService task. This can help re-establish the connection without needing to restart your computer every time.

Tried this, it doesn't work. Although, for people who keep using quest restarting OVRService makes sense, sometiems it helps to connect indeed. Due to constant problems with connecting and overall performance I threw this into a trash bin and accepted being scammed for 500$ lol.

Yeah this hardwarde and software is utter sh*t and meta doesn't care at all, except a bot responding to this topic 1 year ago. It's not working and who knows when it will again - this is typical Quest PC experience.

I just put mine into trash bin and I will spread a good word about this. I got Quest 3 about year ago and this is the biggest scam that ever got me. Crazy.

In my case changing the sound from quest 3 speakers to "Use window's settings or something like that helped. This setting can be seen on the screenshot of this topic on top.

Whenever this happens after an update all you need to do is reinstall the Oculus Drivers from the \Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers

What I don't like is from version 6x on the Windows playback device doesn't automatically switch to the Headphones (Oculus Virtual Audio Device) when I start Link/Air Link in my Quest 2. It used to. And Virtual Desktop still switches the Windows playback devices.

I have to open the desktop in Link/Air Link and manually change the playback device in order to get audio from apps on my PC.

My headset is getting less and less enjoyable with each update from Meta that introduce time wasting annoyances like this.

why is this marked as fixed? I have to "repair" the meta quest app on my windows 11 so the sounds starts working again at least once a week. really annoying... an9d probably won't ever buy a meta device again.

Do yourself a favour and just use Steam VR or Virtual Desktop (not free). 99% of the headaches are caused by the Quest App and can be easily avoided this way.

no thanks.
Meta has to solve this.
