Quest 3 Left controller wont update

It was working fine and then stopped. It tried to do a firmware update and it will make it to 66% and then reset, does this 3 times and then fails. Tried all of the “fixes” I.e. unpair, factory reset, batteries, but it will not work. Any other solutions??

Mine is also not working, just gets the blinking SOS LED light.   I'm an idiot because I did a factory reset now I can't even get into the main menu.

I’m in the exact same boat! I use my quest daily to workout and it my controller just stopped working and won’t update firmware. I tried to replace batteries with energizer batteries of all kind, no luck. I desperately need help because I factory reset the headset and now I'm stuck!

Hi there, chuckypow and Ihiryu1! We certainly don't want this to continue pulling our users away from the virtual world, so we appreciate you both bringing that Quest 3 controller issue to our attention! To start, are you able to let us know if the controller is not powering on at all, or is it disconnecting randomly chuckypow? If it is temporarily losing power or restarting, this may be the result of the battery output diminishing with use so that the battery is not providing its full power output potential. This diminishing output effect varies across different battery brands, so we highly recommend that they try a different brand of battery in the controller. Aside from that, please test out the following if you haven't already, and let us know if anything changes:

  • Manually factory reset your controller:
    • Use the correct button combination to start the factory reset process.
      • Right: Hold the A button and tap the Home (Meta logo) button 5 times.
      • Left: Hold the X button and tap the Menu button 5 times.
    • The LED will blink orange/white while the factory reset is being performed.
    • The LED will then change to light-blue during boot.
    • Controllers can be used again as normal once boot completes.
  • Unpair and pair your controller once more.
  • Make sure your headset is completely up to date.
  • Reboot your headset.

My left controller also stopped working. I tried the factory reset and nothing happened. I'm going to try a new battery.

They had to replace my entire system. Could not get it to work.

Hi again, thank you for your ongoing patience. We have a few more questions to get a better understanding of what may be causing your issue with your controller:

  •  Is your controller showing a light at all? If so, is the light blinking, or solid?
  • Have you tried replacing your current batteries with a well-known name brand battery? If not, please attempt so that we can rule this option out.
  • Were you able to successfully unpair and pair the controllers to the Quest 3?
  • After attempting the provided troubleshooting steps, are you experiencing any issues with the right controller or just the left controller?

Please answer these questions and provide as much detail as possible so that we may continue to assist you.

I think it was something to do with the firmware update it had to do. Was working until that.

My meta 3 was working great last night. I wake up this morning n use it and the left joystick doesn’t work I put in three new batteries and nothing. I checked all batteries with a meter and they are good. I unpaired both controllers and only the right one works. The lights on the left controller doesn’t light up. Can someone help me?

Hey MetaStoreHelp We're having the same issue over here with our right controller. I've tried every troubleshooting tip I've read and it's still not pairing (firmware update fails every time). I just sent you a PM - please advise!

Yes I reported the problem to Meta. They promised me a replacement joystick since it was malfunctioning. Well I NEVER RECEIVED ONE! I had to purchase the new one. Even though it’s under warranty. So to answer your question your probably going to either get promised a new joystick or your going to have to purchase a new one like I did.
I wish their customer service was more truthful and adhere to their warranty policy.
