Quest 3 Link PC Freezes on launch

I use a link cable to play games and it has been working fine, but now when I launch the Link app and it takes me to the white room it just freezes. I've tried resetting the headset, my pc, unplugging/plugging back in, disabling Wifi, other USB 3 ports, removing device and re-adding it back on the Meta Quest Link app on PC.

I just need it to stop freezing on launch. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

After my 'fix' I found that I often run into performance issues such as getting 1 FPS for seemingly no reason. Resetting my PC and headset sometimes does not fix the issue. After using Virtual Desktop and Steam Link to try to get around it and finish my game I find that I still have performance issues using those which I did not have before. This is leading me to believe it's the headset, but it's so intermittent that I cannot pinpoint any particular thing.

Still though... the performance and clarity I get from using a link cable is worth the hassle... when it works.

It's odd. Meta Quest Link updated to 77.0.0.574.329 (77.0.0.574.329) and I don't have that problems. Only 2-3 sec. lags while link start. Something must be related with Quest FW itself, combination of both or specific settings.

    - I always disable all Meta services - they don't start with system boot, only when I start the Meta Quest Link software. After finishing "my quest" with the quest, I disable them with a script. Maybe it matters (memory leak etc)?

    - RTX 4080

    - Meta Quest Link ver: 77.0.0.574.329 (77.0.0.574.329)

    - USB cable INIU link cable (with charging) connected to USB-A port.

    - Quest 3 FW: V76.0 50912730081500.520

    - Debug tools (attached):

First time ever, today I linked up cable without a hitch.

Only difference being (may be coincidental) but I uninstalled GOOGLE CHROME..

    Will keep on testing,

    Hey there Jayombi !

We came across your post and thought we could lend a hand.

If you haven't already, please give the Software Update Tool a go!

Use the following steps to force your headset to update to the latest software version using the Software Update Tool:

    1. Back up data. Use cloud backup to ensure your device’s app data, like app progress or app settings, is saved in the cloud.

    2. Power off your device. Press and hold the Power button located on the right side of the headset to power off your device.

    3. Load the boot screen. Press and hold both the Power and Volume Down buttons until you see the USB Update Mode Menu. When you see the USB Update Mode Menu, release the Power and Volume Down buttons immediately.

    4. Select Sideload update. On the boot screen, use the Volume buttons to navigate to Sideload update. Then press the Power button to select it. Once selected, remove your headset.

    5. Load the software update tool. On a computer, load the software update tool webpage using a compatible web browser (Chrome, Edge, or Opera).

    6. Connect your device. Use the USB-C cable that came with your device to connect it to the computer. If you’re using an Elite Strap, ensure the cable is connected to your headset and not the strap. Then click the "Connect device" button on the tool's webpage.

Once you've tried this, if the issue persists, please submit a bug report using the steps in this article.

As always, if you want to speak to one of our agents about this issue, you can contact us via private message here (just make sure you're logged in first!) or via email, through this link.

We hope to see you back in the Metaverse soon!

To this current day I am still having first connect issues.

    I've tried everything.

Click Meta Quest Link app, waits up to two mins before it loads. Detects Quest 3 all is good. I LINK up within Quest Headset and goes into zoomy FX screen and just sits in that indefinitely.

    I have to terminate process : OVRServer_X64.exe(CAPI: 1.111.0) 63777ff4e7db-public SC:4427086

Rerun Meta Quest Link app, boots up faster this time (second time always).

    Quest 3 Links no problem.

    So there you go, ...
