same problem.  I can't believe they haven't fixed this after all these years.  I'll definitely think twice before buying their next headset.  It ruins hours worth of sim racing for me on a daily basis.  Leave it unplugged it runs out of juice quickly, plug it in and it gives incorrect messages about non existent debris that block the entire screen and require the user to  pull over to the side of the track mid race (which is not easy when you can't see anything but a big error message popup), find the controller and click OK.  Obviously a hardware flaw that they can't fix via the operating system.

I'm convinced this message is actually to get the user to disconnect the power to avoid the battery overheating under heavy load.  Why can't the operating system just disable charging until the battery cools down.

Turns out this is hardware failure present from date of purchase.  I should have returned it earlier, but because everyone was experiencing it, and meta had previously suggested it was fixable via update, I waited and am now out of warranty.

Thankfully I've been given this incredible 'Opportunity'... Email from Meta:

Hello Michael,

Greetings from Meta Store Support. I hope you are doing well. After reviewing your information, based on the purchase and activation date, we confirmed that your device is out of warranty. Due to this, we are unable to issue a warranty replacement for your device.

We truly appreciate you for being a loyal customer. We would like to offer you the opportunity to purchase a refurbished replacement through the Meta Out of Warranty program. If you are interested, please tell me so I can start the process by sending you an email with the price details, and a form where you can provide your payment information and shipping address.

If you are not interested in this program, we encourage you to check out the new generation of VR products we have to offer at meta.com/quest

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
Javier

Same problem. Stupid error and stupid device.

I feel they knew about this being a hardware/design fault that affects all units from the very start, but have somehow managed to avoid fixing it, and are now offering customers the 'incredible opportunity' of buying a refurbished unit, that will most likely also have the same issue.

These forums are full of evidence that it's been an ongoing issue from the start, yet bizarrely they don't take that into consideration when offering a resolution, but rather see it as an opportunity to try and make a new sale!!

I'll never buy hardware from facebook again.

Just so you guys now. Problem is still there. Cleaned the port like 20 times. Its not the solution.  I have the feeling I only have the problem when my headset has to charge faster, When its fully charged the problem is not there.

I'm using my headset for sim racing. And its just really annoying when you get the message in the middle of the race.

So please try to fix the software bug.
