Quest Link Freezing and Glitching, Says incompatible

Hi there,

I am having issues with Quest Link glitching and freezing. The quest link says "You won't be able to use the Link feature, as your system's hardware is incompatible with it."

However, my system hardware is compatable. I have checked everything and my PC is more than able to handle VR. I am using Meta's quest link cable on USB-3 and the usb test was successful. Headset is quest 3.

Here is more details of my specs:

  • Link Cable: Using branded meta link cable
  • Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 285K (3.70 GHz)
  • Graphics card NVIDIA Geforce RTX 5090
  • Memory 43.7GB
  • Operating system Windows 11

I have repaired, unisntall and reinstalled the software many times.

One time a message popped up that there was a known bug with my graphics version. "Your NVIDIA graphics card has a known bug which causes Meta Horizon Link to freeze-up during gameplay. Please roll back to version 591.86 won't be able to use the Link Feature. " I have followed the app's advice and rolled babk the graphics card. The message has not been seen since however the freezing/glitching issue still occurs.

I would appreciate any leads, or if anyone experienced the same, let me know!

Thank you, I have tried trawling suggestions on similar forum posts, it seems to be a common issue... without a solution. Many reccomend rolling back the graphics card as I did already. Other than that, I haven't found a suitable fix.

I have the same problem. I also tried completely removing the NVIDIA driver and installing an older version, but I’m still experiencing the same issue.

At this point, I believe Meta/Oculus needs to update the VR software to improve compatibility with the newer NVIDIA drivers. We shouldn’t have to keep rolling back our GPU drivers just to use VR. Meta and NVIDIA need to work together to resolve this compatibility issue.

100% agree, what's the point of having good graphics card if it's unusable for vr

That is good news! I hope it fixes this extremely frustrating bug, but I shall believe it when I see it in action :-)

Thanks for sharing.

"As per the given log files, The Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 9 285K processor is failing the compatibility check. This is likely because it's a newer-generation CPU that is not yet on the Quest Link compatibility whitelist."

Hi there, for those following this thread, please see above message I recieved from Meta (after 30 + emails and troubleshooting 😥)
