Rapidly & Repeatedly Connecting then Disconnecting

My Quest 3 recently became unable to maintain a connection to my PC via link cable, rapidly connecting and disconnecting until it is unplugged . I verified it is not the PC or Cable itself that is the problem, by connecting my Quest 3s via the same cable, to the same PC, and it works fine. The question is whether I have a hardware issue or not. I am in the PTC and recently received V79.1030 Build 5115411.10640.520. The problem was intermittent with previous versions since v77 I think.

If it's a problem with the build, I would expect that others may be having the same issue. If no one else is reporting the problem, then I probably have a hardware issue with the USB C port.

Also, I recently noticed that I am recent AGAIN charging to 100% and getting the green light. Since v72 ish, I was unable to charge above 75%, but that problem is gone. So they ARE doing something with the charging (USB C?) circuitry

Guys, apparently this bug has been SOLVED today with a firmware update. Still shows v79 build 1032, it was a more than 1GB update, but just after applied my INIU cable started working again and this issue dissapeared.

    Finally, almost a month...

I found this solution on reddit and it work but need it anytime i play with headset. i hope in a patch from meta.

Found some what of a solution, with the headset off and injection cable disconnected plug in the link cable, it'll flash for a few seconds and stop, then turn on headset to make sure it doesn't go crazy then plug power injector cable back in. You will have to do this every time you turn the quest off though

This sequence worked, but I had to start with the headset off, and battery % less than 100%.    When the battery was fully charged, performing this sequence did not work.

Here's the sequence with a little bit more clarification:
Start with headset off and < 100%

Cable connected to PC, not connected at headset, power injector not plugged in at in-line hub

Plug in INIU Cable at headset.

    Turn on the headset

Plug in the charging connector to the in-line hub

doesn't help for me since i just want to power my quest, i mostly use the INIU cable to charge because it's long enough for not having the power supply in my bed when i'm watching a movie or working remotely on my PC with VD so it's not plugged on the other end. i'm pretty sure we will never see this fixed since we are using third party cable. Now comes the quest for a new cable long enough that charges the headset... 😑

Do you follow exactly the guide?Another mine 2 Friends with INUI (me too) solve with this trick.

Only PC USB connected, no Power plug, Power head set, plug USB in the headset, wait the green light on INUI is fixed, plug in Power cable

Followed exactly this and no luck.

    Headset powered down.

INUI plugged into PC (no external power)

    INUI plugged into headset

Green light on cable on solid for a few seconds.

Green light flashes  no cable and amber light on headset in sync

    Turn on headset

Green light steady for a few seconds then flashes

Disconnect? sound and flashing continue. Seemingly forever

Plugging power in simply makes the disconnect sound more frequent.

First Power on headset and the plug in cable in the headset, not before

    NOT SOLVED

Firmware update v79 is clearly causing problems with 3rd party cables with power and what Meta wants is to force all to buy their 100€ cable.

It would work (play indefinitely) if you get a USBc male to USBc male cable and used airlink, but you need a good wifi connection or you'll get stutters in your games.

A reply by Cinauz provides a work-around that works for many people.   Not everyone is able to make it work, however so I the issue is not marked as "Solved".    See Cinauz's posts below.

guys, does this problem just happen with cables that work for link or can i buy a long cable to charge the headset? its annoying that the iniu link cable doesn't work but if at least i can buy a cable that has the same lenght i can more or less work with that. do you know if those work?

    Hey everyone,

quick update. I purchased a new link cable with power injector. I assume that my "old" cable does not comply the USB communication protocol implemented in the new v79 update. The old works with V78.
