Has this been done yet???

Has anyone made an AR type app for Rift that would allow for the use of a webcam, kinect cam, or any other cam in order to see your monitor through the Rift and place AR elements in and around the view? That seems like a pretty simple solution to the whole extended display issue. I read something about one of the droid vr's using the onboard cell cam for viewing the real world. Figure it must have been done already and maybe burried in the posts somewhere?

I can't speak from personal experience, but the Leap Motion API is pretty extensive and both SDKs provide Unity plugins. If your application involves having a Razer Hydra in your right hand, it would be pretty easy (as an example) to set it to ignore all Leap Motion hand tracking data that doesn't arise from the left hand.

Since no motion tracking solution is 100% perfect, though, you'd need to implement a solution to resolve disagreements between the two tracking methods, should they occur. Our SDK includes a Confidence API that would help with this.

Hi Alex, do you have an ETA on when the software will be improved and optimized? I still have my device but it sits unplugged most of the time. Also, do you have an ETA on an Unreal Engine plugin? We have passed on using the Leap Motion Control in our project for now, but if things improve as we get further along, we would want to rethink that decision. Thanks!

While I don't have a firm ETA on upcoming releases, I can tell you that tracking improvements are currently by far our biggest priority, so you should expect to see progress in the next couple of software releases.
