How to configure when using 2 SLI cards?

I run 4 monitors (2x2) on 2 SLI cards currently. I unplugged the top-right one and plugged the DVI cable into the Rift control Box. The question is, how do I configure Windows where I can still use my 3 other monitors and use the Rift for 3D Stereo testing?

I have tried doing the "Duplicate" option listed in the manual but Windows forces me to duplicate the main display to BOTH monitors 3 (LED) & 4 (RIFT). It leaves monitor 2 alone but messes up 3. It also causes problems with the display sending windows pop-ups to the RIFT where they are about impossible to see or manipulate.

Thoughts?

Probably your best bet is to use an HDMI splitter to mirror one of your existing monitors.

Ok, so would I split the signal to my top-right monitor and just drag the game window to it for testing?

I just ordered a DVI splitter.

You probably want to mirror your primary display. That way full-screen applications will open on it (though depending on the software you use, you may be able to target secondary displays in full-screen).

Indeed, though using mirroring with Sli has some penalties...

Splitter hooked to primary/Sli focus display and.....I currently recommend this configuration when possible.

With Sli enbled, set the game specific properties to single-gpu and enable Sli-AA modes, v-sync disabled and triple buffering forced. This allows you to leverage your Sli capability while minimizing input latency.

I plan to drop a line to some contacts I have with the nvidia driver team to see if they are interested in making HMD specific tweaks to the 3dvision system...In addition to checking viability about a new 2 gpu side by side split frame sli rendering mode specific to low latency VR usage. :D

BTW, I am not running in SLI. The card support SLI; hence, the reason I have 4 DVI outputs and have 4 monitors. You cannot run 4 monitors in SLI (only 2) unless you have 4 video cards (and I only have 2.) At least this is the case for my setup.

I develop on 4 screens at once and can't get the Rift to play nice with the setup. I am hoping the DVI splitter helps. It works fine when I run it on 2 monitors but not 4.

Using Sli with lots of monitors is pretty tricky indeed! It's definitely a plus though as UDK makes heavy use of your GPU's and the rift is my 5th display! I run 2x 590's so there are your 4 GPUs... the 6x0 cards are supposed to support 3 screens natively per GPU though(only 2 per GPU 5x0 and lower on avg).

4 screens. I've got a 680 and have 3 monitors (two with dvi, one with display port to dvi adapter) and a plasma tv (hdmi) running from it at the same time.
(My previous radeon 5870 had the same 4 outputs, but could only run three at a time)

Thanks for the info on how to set up best for sli, also it will be awesome if you do manage to get NVidia to do the side by side split frame sli rendering, it would be a massive + to having a Sli/NVidia setup, I'm pretty sure it would help there sales even

any update on if you managed to get in touch with NVidia about doing the 2 gpu side by side split frame sli rendering mode?

    thanks
