i7 2700K Does not meet Min Requirements??

Yes Sandy Bridge CPU's are starting to show their age but last I checked a stock 2700k still out performs a i5-4590 in most benchmarks. The Rift compatibility tool seems like its trying to get people to do unnecessary CPU upgrades?

DirectX 12 will indeed lower the burden a lot. Also with current applications, there may be some that rely on using one core for the main housekeeping, and having a weak core (even though its showing as 30% utilisation in a quad core cpu) may result in slowdowns. With a high performance cpu such as the Ix series, this should be minimised

Anyone ran the check on an Asus X99-Deluxe yet? I'm not at home although I did go through with a pre-order.

X99-Deluxe with an i7-5820K, 16GB DDR4, Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme and I'm afraid it won't like my USB controller lol

I'll be more disappointed if the Oculus won't run on current gen hardware over the higher than expected price...

If your current setup will not work well on the CV1, nothing will :-)

It does mention the need for USB3.0 ports for some reason, what will they utilise that extra bandwidth for?? USB 2.0 should be fast enough unless streaming through 10's of megabytes of data per second through it

I wouldn't worry about the program telling you that your CPU can't handle it clearly it is wrong and programmed extremely poorly.

    i7-5960x
    SLI Titans
    64GB DDR4 2800
    Asus Rampage V extreme motherboard

All in all this shoddy software claims I cannot run it as my CPU fails along with USB.

    lets see here..

    10x usb 3.0
    2x usb 2.0

and well the cpu, not much to say about that.

My biggest concern at this point is will I spend 600 dollars for something that may or may not work due to the programmers inability to utilize the hardware someone has. (Which clearly meets/exceeds their recommended)

I can understand my GPU may be a little sub par its only a gtx 750 but my i7-3770 CPU isn't good enough? Guess ill cry myself to sleep tonight cause the wife wont approve that much of an upgrade :*(

Dude!! You don't ask your wife for permission.. Its easier to ask for forgiveness then permission. I just order the stuff and be in the dog house for a few days. I'm more then ok with that.

I'm also failing on the compatibility check for having an I7-3770. I really hope this won't be an issue as all comparisons seem to say the 3770 is superior to the I5-4590. Wish I could be sure now that my preorder is in.

    Looking at the following link
    https://support.oculus.com/hc/en-us/articles/215526337-Error-My-CPU-does-not-meet-the-recommended-specifications

It look like they going purely on single core performance. This could explain why a last gen I7 is failing. It also handicaps AMD since there single core performance is fairly bad (at least till zen comes out), For example a 2700K will beat a I5 4590 in most situations but the I5 4590 going to beat the 2700K by a decent amount if you going purely on single core performance.

On another note, am I the only person that find it strange they recommending a i5-6300HQ which is a mobile processor while at the same time not recommending laptops? I would think a I5-6500 would make more sense as a recommendation.
