Ok! Got my rift on thursday and have spent the weekend making a first release. Stereoscopy and controls seem to be working fine.
Still things like gui, skyboxes and i bet a bunch of other things to take care of.
I've created a project on google code: http://code.google.com/p/jmonkeyengine-oculus-rift/

Taking a break now to download some applications and enjoy the hardware a bit :)

You've earned it ! 8-)

Nice start, Sir, hope it keeps rolling.

Thank you very much sir. I consider myself pretty strong with java, but when it comes to c++ I'm completely lost :? This should help tremendously.

JMonkey is new to me, how do we make use of this library?
ie where do I need to add references to it in the source code? Is there a sample program I can refer to?

Not a sample program, but better than nothing :)

TestStereoCams.java includes everything needed to set up an application. It's also possible to load a scene if you uncomment some lines (but make sure you have the assets too).
There are a couple of clunky things atm, since i'm having problems loading the c++ object properly. Nevertheless, it is working.

Working on gui now.

The native object initialization is now fixed, and the code looks much smoother.
Also fixed the projection matrices for the cameras (it helps to read the manual.)
Gui is now properly rendered on both "screens".

Thanks guys, I have finally been able to compile and run your test apps.
TestStereoCam and TestGui both look good to me.

Now to see if I can create something fun with it. :)

Hope to see something cool, soon!

Added a test case for skyboxes. No additional work needed.
Added usage examples to the wiki, in case it was unclear.

Commited:
Partial post filter support. Working filters are: DepthOfField, Fog, SSAO, Bloom, LightScattering.
Added some tests for particles

Local:
PostWater almost working. Looking good underwater, unfocused on/through the surface.
NiftyGUI partially working. It’s showing, some elements are missing sometimes. Input is screen-wide, which means it’s off. In general, nifty seems to use the whole screenwidth a lot times, also when scaling elements.
