Lets make a SDK 0.4 Linux nagging thread!

Since there is no official response as to the status of Linux & OSX I am creating a thread.

I think that cross platform developers shouldn't be treated as second-class citizen. Perhaps this is of no concern and the SDK is on it's way as we are posting, but I'd like to make sure we aren't over looked! ;)
The new way of treating the rift as a specialized device using the windows runtime & driver might complicate things, or not. But before there is further speculation it would be really, really nice if some oculus rep gives us a short heads up. :)

update: thanks for the OSX release, how long until we've got Linux?

I sympathise. My DK2 remains boxed pending the promised Linux support. The most irritating thing is that I can't even test it to make sure I don't have a faulty unit. It is a brick at present.

You haven't tried with the "old" 0.3.2 SDK ? DK2 should run (without positional tracking) with it, if I remember...

I'll do that if I don't make an impulse purchase for a new windows machine.

mine arrived last week too haven't even opened it. waiting for the SDK its a real pity i thought we wouldn't have to wait this time around. the most annoying thing is they didn't say anything about this till after the complaints when everyone found out the release has no linux/mac download

i have had to wait for both DK1 and DK2 i think i will pass on preordering the CV1 when its out

Thanks, that's useful. :) Can anyone confirm that 0.3.2 works with DK2, specifically on Linux?

I've heard the "commercial developer only" 0.3.3 SDK (why can't we have this, Oculus?) supports DK2, but I've not heard a confirmed report that 0.3.2 does. I've seen a few posts saying it specifically doesn't.

Oculus' 0.3.2 I believe does not work, however, @jherico has a branch which should run: https://github.com/jherico/OculusSDK (see the commit log from 2 weeks ago for the skinny)

My DK2 is in customs atm but I'm hoping to be able to test it out in a couple days...

Nope. There won't be any positional tracking until a) they release the 0.4.x version for linux or b) someone reverse engineers the USB signals required to activate the LEDs and writes an algorithm to to find the Rift in 3D space given the camera inputs.
