New Developer

Hello, I a masters of CS student and am looking to make my final project using rift 2 in the coming 4-6 months. I was wondering if anyone could help me get started with the basic...i mean down to Earth...make than down the core of the Earth basics. Once i un-box the rift 2 and maybe plug it into the computer what do i need to do, how do i get started etc etc etc. Thank you!

    First, download all the rift demos from Drash's roundups, try them out, get a feel for what works and what doesn't in VR.

    Then, traditionally, one would learn either Unity or Unreal. There's plenty of tutorials for both. Unity seems to be the most popular option, but costs a few hundred dollars for the version you'll need to do Rift work.

    Google any questions you have. The info is out there.

    If you're more comfortable writing writing code directly, you can take a look at the examples for my book. They're located on GitHub here.

    This code covers the most basic interactions with the Rift, initializing the SDK, finding and targeting the proper display, and performing distortion.

    pretty comfy with writing code, would feel like cheating if i did not :P

    unity is probably out of the question. so unreal it is.
