Oculus Dimensions, Galaxy S4 1080p display

I haven't received my dev kit yet, and expect it to be a while, im in the 60,000s for order number. But I wanted to get started on my 1080p upgrade project. I was wondering if the dimensions of the Rift are documented so I can 3D print a mount to house the 1080p display from a Galaxy S4.

I plan on developing an Xilinx FPGA load that will take the DVI input and output to the 1080p Display of the Galaxy S4. It is a 5" display, and the mount would need to accommodate the change in size.

Even some rough dimensions would get me started.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I own an S4, and i don't think the screen would be a good match. While the screen is very good in some ways, its pretty poor during motion, with some heavy blur.

Why not look into the Nexus 7 v2 screen which already has the required size? ( as discussed here: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=140&t=18316 ).

yes 60HZ and 24hz is bigger differnt .hdmi ONLY support 24HZ . I told u i creat a 4k version but think about a thunder or dvi port and a power plug and a set of very very heavy galsses on ur head . U just hard to move ur real head . so I remove head tracking device. the result is u will get carsick in the game. but if u get to use it u know :D

i creat i oculus rift FUTURE prototye 1600P version, and one 4k VERSION without head tracking .and the edege of screnn is not blur ,it is very clear.so by far I can tell u it is a threat . BUT what bother m it is the softerware drivr was independent developed , so hard to modify and rewrite. and this thing need TONE' S of game developer support .and in very near day SONY and OLYMPUS r developing their own headset .so my conclusion is hard to say
but I will enjoy my headset for a while step ahead everybody 3-4years play vr game

cool, can u make one for me? :D

Ziphnor, could you explain 'heavy blur'? Does it not do video OK?

I take back my doubts about making a S4 breakout board. I am confident that
removing one of the connectors, and doing small wire (0.2mm from cabling) soldering to
the 0.4mm pitched tabs under magnifying glass is quite doable.

I am also looking at how one can do mipi signal interface.
I am interested in the displayport signal as that has the differential 4 lane wires.
We will see as I learn the detailed protocols involved.

I just mean that the screen doesn't handle motion that well. Many LCD's have poor motion resolution (one reason why i have a Pioneer Plasma TV in my living room ;) , but the S4 screen seems to be particularly bad. The excellent blacks might be a good enough reason to try anyway though, i am not sure. Its just that scrolling up and down in the browser causes visible motion blur (especially on black backgrounds). I am thinking that this would be pretty bad for the Oculus, but i might be wrong.
