OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator (NIA)

I'm current testing with OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator (NIA) EEG Headband and a LG 3D Monitor to make a custom profile to combine it with the rift so good as possible :). Hope my Rift is arriving soon.

OCZ NIA will not be suitable for eye-tracking.
You can very reliably detect eye-movement ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrooculography ), but you wont be able to figure out the direction your retina is pointing, from that data.

    So:

    Eye-tracking - no
    REM-detection - yes

In the official NIA jargon it is called "Glance". And they try to guess a direction for that "Glance", but it doesn't work reliably.

NIA with REM-detection has been part of experiments around lucid dreaming in the past.

Thanks for the input. I suppose I'll have to investigate other options. It would be nice to not have to make my own EOG for these purposes and just use one available to the market, but I suppose having the feature for my group for a little bit won't be that bad. Thanks again for the information. :)

Is Emotive still running the nasty licensing talked about in the old thread?
