Rift/Accessories, 3D Models -!CV1 coming Soon!-

Hey guys !

How are you ?

So I had a lot of fun making the Rift in 3d and I received some requests about other controllers. So I am going to make a huge package, as complete as possible, containing all the main controllers that you might need to show inside your games.

This topic will be updated in the coming days and weeks and months and will also be used for you to be able to make specific requests, ask questions and advices, so that the final package is as complete and efficient as possible !

Here are the coming models, with their release date (Precise dates can be changed according to my personal life or my general laziness and must be taken as estimations).

Actual Package - Oculus Rift DK1 + Rift Case + Oculus Rift DK2 + Razer Hydra + Xbox 360 Wireless Controller + Leap Motion :

This is actually a really great thing for people wanting to use Soft Kinetic's hardware (http://youtu.be/FJwljGamIGw?t=46s) because if you're playing with Razer Hydra or using an Xbox 360 controller like they show in Couch Knights you'd be more immersed.

Yep ! A lot of people are doing that ! One good example is Lunar Flight, with my xbox controller in the hands of the virtual body.

First of all, awesome models man, thanks for sharing. Seems like they might come in handy for some controller menu or something :)

One little piece of advice though if I may, don't compress normal maps with jpeg. For most regular textures the difference isn't that noticable, but when it comes to lighting, surface curvature information discontinuities due to jpeg artifacts are horrendous!
Take a look at this quick shot I took after I loaded your model and maps in blender: http://i.imgur.com/oPIb9JM.jpg

I will do my best to avoid this in the coming models, but they are not made to be seen from a very short distance. They are more like simple props.

Hi MannyLectro, the DK2 models are looking good! Are they modelled just from the photos or were you able to get the dimensions from somebody?

Also what program did you use to create the models? I've had a look back through the thread and can't find it mentioned anywhere. (Just curious that's all).

    Cheers
