Rift-Mounted Leap Motion Controller Demo (WIP 4: 5/9/13)

UPDATE:

Works great to view on your rift and in free-view! Two new melee types and a preliminary menu system.

Update: Sword-like Blunt Sticks!

Here I move around the cube a lot to show spatial awareness and I tap it on most of its sides. It's the most stable demo yet, it's finally physically responsive, and it's a great time waster!

I just cooked up a little Rift-Mounted Leap Hand Tracking Demo. Firmly attach your Leap to the center of the faceplate of your rift. If your hand is upside-down, go into the Leap Tray Icon and click "Reverse Orientation".

Hi Zalo, great JOB! Could you provide also the demo version with the "realistic" 3D Hand?
I would like to test the reaction when the sensore lose the finger position!
    Thanks in advance :)

    Nice videos and demos!
I am currently also playing with a leap motion and the rift.
At the moment it sits on the table and i constantly wander out of the sensor region when i have the headset on.
The idea of mounting it on the rift itself appeals to me and i will give it a try.

Wait for the STEM and head tracking. Then you'll be able to see where the leap is in the VR space. Frankly, the leap's tracking from underneath is much better than its tracking from above.

Something like this (but not with crappy custom head tracking and crappy custom skeletal reconstruction):

hey, I am currently working on a project on leap motion and I will like to know how did you manage to change the orientation for the leap and reading all those data? thank you

like this. love the possibilities of using the leap inside of the rift.

i find myself trying to orientate the keyboard from time to time. leap's got a bit of a one-up on that. ;)

I love the idea, but I've found that the Leap tends to have issues "seeing" all of my fingers at once, so gestures are problematic at best.

I considered making a sort of ad-hoc controller to solve this, using a wireless mouse for the keypresses and the Leap to control position - has anyone tried this with any success?

Leap appears to be adding something special to their SDK soon:

yep, not sure if it's just me and the way i'm using it but i'm having a hard time really getting the leap to work as a smooth interface. maybe it just needs a bit of practice. ;)

I tried the Leap, but the hand tracking seemed very wonky and only really worked in one pre-designed position.
