Sleeker anatomical design

The design of the headset itself is way to large and clumsy. You need to have the headset itself as almost an extension of the person themselves, not a separate object.

Look at these photos and tell me if it looks like it belongs on your head?

The final image is getting closer to the design it needs to be.

Inner side of the Rift is already designed very anatomically, to fit the skull optimally. So I just instantly assumed you're talking about the external hull casing look.

As for built-in headphones, that's a solid and very big NO-NO. For so many reasons. Just buy a headphones.

I meant as in inner-ear phones that are connected through the headset, turning two devices into one.

And what about the screen? Is it wrapped around the skull as well, or it a square screen positioned in front of the eyes?

Im thinking of a malleable screen that wraps around the eyes with complete concealment.

I am to decree here that as long as it doesn't look disturbing (having swastikas on it, look like a phallus, etc.) it is utterly irrelevant what it looks like. You can't see it while you wearing it, you wouldn't care what it look like. In regard of "looking stupid", having box strapped to your head is nowhere more stupid than having loudspeakers strapped to your head, or even something as simple as having a bag strapped to your back. Nobody thinks you look like an idiot for wearing these, why must they think of you that way for wearing Rift?

So what you're saying is... we need a rapper to come along and make this popular? With the exception of Will.I.Am, of course, that would just ruin the product.

OK, let's get Kanye on this, I think we can do it!

This has already been covered in one of the CES interviews. The final unit will be very sleek.

Ok, does the display still present itself as screens, or a full vision immersion?

Similar in fashion to this, but a more complete wrap around of the head.

If you would, hold your hand as far away from your face as possible. Then move your hand to the left until you cant see it, and have i line go directly from that point to the side of your head. That's where i think the screen position should end so it can encompass all of your field of vision.

No, that's where the lens between your eye and the screen should end.

What do you mean by lens?

Your eyes can't focus that close. A screen like the goggles in your pic would be impossible to see without complex lenses in between to change the focal length of your eyes.
