Stereo textures

Does anyone know a Rift supporting 3d engine that supports stereo textures. BSContact Stereo has 3d textures , also Panda 3d, but they dont support the Rift yet. Panda3d has a page in the manual on it
https://www.panda3d.org/manual/index.php/Stereo/Multiview_Textures
and there is work in progress on Rift support
https://www.panda3d.org/forums/search.php?keywords=oculus&searchx.x=0&searchx.y=0&searchx=Search

There are interesting possibilites with stereo textures I think -- like a 3d gallery with stereo pictures on the wall

VR Cinema has stereo (video) textures. How is that done? Is it a Unity3d app?

cwm3D, thank you for describing your solution for using stereo textures in Unity. I was able to get a proof of concept up and running rather quickly.

Riftology, 3D models are better in general but this provides a way to:

    1) showcase work captured in a 2d/3d format
    2) quickly incorporate very complicated/detailed objects into a project without requiring modeling.

It might have limited use and drawbacks, but it can be very effective. I was impressed with the depth achieved.

ridoutb, Thank You! Excellent job setting up your 3D textures & images. If you are sharing, I would like to see whatever you create.

I agree that 3D models and textures are both useful in VR. Each has unique benefits. My demo uses objects and stereoscopic images in the same scene. It was primarily a test, but has potential to be expanded. It's easy to imagine how this can be applied to other virtual experiences.

Looking forward to the DK2 in July!

I'm hoping to post my work in August. I'm pretty confident I'm in the first DK2 batch and I want to get that integration done first. I think the positional tracking will make a big difference.

It's nice to finally get into some real development. These forums and all the helpful folks like you really make this a great community.

If anyone else is using this technique and has questions, I'm happy to help.

    Cheers!
