To all broken Razer Hydra owners

Hi,

there is an easy and simple fix for the broken Hydras.
Found here: http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=120&t=18703#p143922

Problem:
- Hydra is on and connected
- Sensors "kind of" work
- But unable to really control anything
- Simple3D looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsW9_GDEANQ
- Simple3D download & install (SDK) http://sixense.com/hardware/sixensesdk

Cause:
- The two connectors of the blinking LED are swapped

Fix:
- You need to open the base station (really no big deal!)
- Look at http://howiem.com/wordpress/index.php/2013/04/18/razer-hydra-base-station-teardown/ for pictures and a detailed description
- nibble off the rubber on the bottom
- Screw out the 4 screws under the rubber, another 3 screws & unplug plastic
- Screw out 2 more screws to release the controllerboard
- There are two connectors, at the assembly someone has put them on the false spot.
- These two need to be swapped. Note: The polarity was ok!
- Be careful doing this! There are some thin wires, don't hurt them!

Plugged on USB, instant working Hydra!

All those links above are not my work!
Thanks at those guys.

Greetings

    that didn't help me :(

Problem is only right hydra is somehow reverted. Left is working perfectly fine.

Even more strangely, if I switch the connectors in base nothing changes. Still left one working well and right one is like it thinks it's behind the base and reverted. Any suggestion?

I've never had any issues with Razer products, I don't get the hate for them. Love my Hydras, they'll do me good in the coming months

My Hydra seems to be wired back to front, so when calibrating, the hands point towards me rather than towards the scene. Is this the same issue do you think? It seems to have no vertical detection either. Have tested another base and the controllers work fine so can rule them out.

You don't have the base station backwards? If the cables come out towards you, then it's facing the wrong way (which would make hands appear backwards).

Soo... I find myself in need of a little advice from the gods that be. I am soldering noob but this doesn't seem like too bad a project and the trade off is a fully working hydra. The main thing is I am not sure if I should cut off the end and try to find a different housing for 7 end connector. Not sure on terminology if you know what it's called that would be a big help to look up an ideal part on ebay. Clearly the glue is going to block any flow. The connector might be out of my league so I should probably look up a local electrical shop. $$$ kinda defeats the purpose though since any shop will probably try to charge like 50$. Plus I would like the experience of doing something like this for myself, though I'll listen to good advice to avoid further damage.
