Viewing Rift screenshots by crossing your eyes (hint: don't)

The difference between Rift screenshots/videos, and 3D images that could be viewed by crossing one's eyes was something that I didn't really quite pick up on for a while, and I can see that this is a very common misconception, so I thought I'd try to make it clear with some examples.

I ended up making a quick page for this since I can't seem to get the whole images to show up in a forum post. Here it is: http://crunchywood.com/tos/

Hope this is useful!

EDIT: Changed title from
"Viewing Rift screenshots with your bare eyes (hint: don't)"

to

"Viewing Rift screenshots by crossing your eyes (hint: don't)"

:P

Or just run the demos and go into your favorite viewing mode (L-R or R-L)... I prefer cross-eyed as I can't seem to go wall-eyed to look at a high resolution image.

Just yesterday I created a (rather trivial) patch of the OculusWorldDemo so that the eye positions could be easily swapped: GitHub: Added ability to swap eye positions.
This allows for easy viewing even when you can't (yet) afford to get a Rift yourself - like me. :)

@Prelucid: I find it easier to look at larger images in the cross-eyed mode with my head further away. The opposite holds true for when I'm looking at parallel-eye images for some reason...

I can't cross eye anything larger than 5-6 inches on my screen. Doesn't matter what order the images are in. When the images are too large, I just cannot get them to converge.

I used to have the same problem... its just practice.
My solution was to backup from the monitor until I could resolve with comfort and just move closer and closer with each try
