Who here has half-finished VR projects?

I keep talking to other devs that mention all these VR projects they have that are only half-done before they got sidetracked by life or other projects. And some of these projects sound REALLY interesting. Stuff that should see the light of day!

So... how many here have projects or demos in an unfinished state? I'd love to hear some of the things that have been worked on, what's stopping them from being finished, and maybe we can all convince each other to set aside a little time to see them through? :)

    CubicleNinja - All those projects look great!

    Did your client get to try the Poolside Villa demo? Or have you used the demo on-site?
    It's great fun looking around in VR then popping the headset off to compare to the real-world version!

    @Boff Thanks Boff! :)

    We flew out to LA about a month ago to share Poolside Villa with two clients. What was funny was their completely different reactions:

    • One thought it was the greatest thing ever, could not stop laughing with joy, *made* their whole team try it, saw the potential, and we're exploring ways to use this in their business.

    • The other would only let their interns try it, were afraid of motion sickness (we had 70+fps!), and complained they didn't want to mess up their hair. Went half-way across the country...to not mess up their hair. :x

    Would love to compare our version versus the real world next time! Wish we'd done that... :(

    And I'd play all of those you listed. The Matrix jump, Holodeck, X-men's Cerebro - these are all ones I've been hoping someone will create! I'd say just focus on one, set a random (yet realistic) date, and force it into existence. You can always make it better after launch!

    @usb420 Thanks! The natural weight of the rift actually adds to the immersion in this one.

    Still working on Brevis, it takes a lot of time to tackle the inherit (unknown/undocumented/unresolved) issues you have with the Rift. So many surprises... Plus I'm just doing it in the little free time I have available so it just seems to be terribly slow progress. I actually brainstorm solutions to problems while I'm commuting, then try to fix the problems in the hour i might have to work on it when I get home from my day job.

    Its coming along, I'm aiming for a sandbox level with most of the major features soon but I keep getting derailed on weekends and that's time I can't recover. So far I'm actually really pleased with it, I just need to add some more content and polish the existing features and it would probably be pretty fun to play.

    So, half-finished? Maybe, but I'd say more like just creeping slow progress.

    I made this virtual museum for art to test different ideas realated to art and just related to experiencing things through VR. Only exhibited it for a workshop in February and then got busy with doing everything else VR experiments (most recent a car game that you can crash and roll and slo-mo etc.) ...

    Now that I´ve gone Pro with Unity, I might share the demo some day although there´s some issues that can´t be corrected that make vertexes blink etc. also it was designed to be controlled outside by me to let me adjust the experience and get more variation to the experience. I could just give instructions so one could try every function out. I won´t develop it anymore due to obvious errors made in my learning curve with game developing.

    I´ll try to upload to my site or some other sharing site during weekend if it doesn´t take eternity to update project to Unity 4.5 version...
