Coming Soon: Interacting with CodeBlocks in Desktop Editor

How to Interact with CodeBlocks in Desktop Editor

We hear your enthusiasm for accessible scripting and we are looking into ways to interact with CodeBlocks directly from the Desktop Editor. For now, we have a read-only version of the VR CodeBlocks viewer coming soon:

Let us know what you would like to see in terms of CodeBlocks features for the Desktop Editor, to help drive our feature prioritization.

This is amazing but not overly useful as read only. I really hope we can script in desktop editor soon and code blocks don't get depreciated!

Definitely drop the "read only" that does nothing for us. Its almost an oxymoron to say "interact with codeblocks" and "read-only" in the same statement. It most definitely needs to be editable using Desktop Editor

Whichever engineer at Meta made this happen is doing β€œgod’s work”. Give that person a raise!

Since you bringing this to the editor. Mind bringing us the paint brush feature back so we can change color feature or is that coming with the material feature?

    1) Since its read only can we at least get multiple script windows open at a time also line number.
    2) Editing with copying pasting between scripts.
    3) Codeblock to TypeScript converter (if only someone had already built it πŸ₯žπŸš).

Perhaps this shift is a way to highlight those who adapt and innovate. It’s an opportunity to distinguish those who engage deeply from those who just voice concerns. Lets see who rises to the challenge.

This is awesome news! I keep learning how to do stuff with Codeblocks and it would be a tremendous help if we could choose between  either that or TypeScript in the editor. Please find a way to allow us to edit Codeblocks in the desktop editor! I say that because my TypeScript knowledge is.. not there. πŸ˜‚

    Hello!

I am an engineer working on this and have a question for you all.

I am reading that you are having problems with CodeBlocks and FBS. We really hope to convert more worlds to FBS in the future as it unlocks a lot more possibilities with what we can do. Can you please list issues or bugs you are facing with FBS so we can make it easier for you to convert your worlds?

    Thank you

Please no FBS.... my experience is it has been extremely unstable. Code blocks would "undo" themselves.  I am sure others will chime in here with their grievances regarding FBS.

    Great news!

A powerful new feature would be to allow more experienced coders in the community to create/share custom codeblocks allowing the community itself to expand the existing library.
