Question

Error with Unity Vulkan Dynamic Resolution Despite Supported Version?

I'm on a project on Unity 6000.0.58f2, and can't seem to get dynamic resolution working as expected on a build for the Quest 3.

OVRMetrics shows that dynamic resolution isn't working (the resolution is fixed). When I activate dynamic resolution, I get the following error:

Error Unity Vulkan Dynamic Resolution is not supported on your current build version. Ensure you are on Unity 2021+ with the Oculus XR plugin v3.3.0+ or the Unity OpenXR plugin v1.12.1+

However, our project is on 4.5.2 of the Oculus XR Plugin.

The error suggests this version is supported. Has anyone else had this error, and is anyone aware of a solution (or a supported version of the engine/plugin?)

Hi, I don't have a solution, but I am getting a similar error on Unity 6000.0.27f1:

Vulkan Dynamic Resolution is not supported on your current build version. Ensure you are on Unity 2021+ with Oculus XR plugin v3.3.0+

Yours additionally stipulates "or the Unity OpenXR plugin v1.12.1+", which mine doesn't. My plug-in provider is OpenXR, not Oculus. I build for Meta Quest 3 and Pro.

I tried seeing what would happen on Unity 6000.0.58f2, but I'm not getting any error like this at all on that version of Unity.

I've just now tested for Unity 6000.0.65f1 (latest LTS at time of writing) and I'm seeing the same error on this version as well.

Worth mentioning I'm also on version 72 of the Meta SDK - hesitant to break everything trying to update, but I realize that could be a compatibility factor?

For folks who do have Vulkan dynamic resolution working as expected, I'd be interested in learning what their setup is (engine version, OpenXR vs Oculus Plugin, SDK version).

Looking through documentation, I saw certain features to GPU clock rate are disabled if using passthrough. Is there any known conflict with dynamic resolution and passthrough in Unity? Is dynamic resolution unsupported when in passthrough?
