How do you get UI elements to work?

I've seen the MRUK toolkit, and it looks like a decent bit of kit... but...

How do I get Q3+Unity to give me a ray... on my controller... to activate stock UGUI elements?

Eg, I bought https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/gui/evo-ui-modern-ui-framework-310303

And can see it... but... I can't interact with it on a Q3 app.  This ought to be simple, but... it's just not clicking with me...  does anyone have an example of using rays to interact with plain-jane UGUIs (not bigredbuttons) or a tutorial on what I need to do to these widgets to make them ray-interactable?  The canvas already had a Graphic Raycaster on it... but...?

I personally use the meta interaction SDK, then all you need to do is right click the canvas in the scene and under XR interaction add ray interaction

Almost-chicken-dinner!  Now I finally get a ray and a dot on the canvas... but it still doesn't seem to interact with the objects.  Just to be clean and a total noob, I added a plain button that will do a gameObject.SetActive(false) ... and  ... ?

Do need to do something to each button or ?
