Question

Is it possible to create an Overlay like OVR Metrics Tool?

As the title suggests, I was wondering if it's potentially possible with creating an overlay like OVR Metrics Tool, as I am wanting to create an application like XSOverlay for Quest devices that are running standalone applications.

There are some things and info that you do have access to, due to the Quest being an Android based device. However, I think that an overlay is not really a thing (or I have not seen one) in Horizon

totally agree with your points about system-level access and overlay limitations. My vision is not to build this as a standalone third-party app that would struggle with Android's restrictions. Instead, the goal is to pitch this to Meta as a native system feature. If Meta implements a dedicated, lightweight driver to access WiFi CSI data, it could be integrated directly into the Quest's tracking architecture. This way, it wouldn't need to bypass the system; it would be part of it, just like the existing hand tracking.

For layout ideas, a destiny matrix chart is a good example of how complex data can be structured visually. You can see how values like life path numbers and compatibility are organized into a clear and readable format, which can help when designing overlays.

Yeah, it’s technically possible, but you’d need access to system-level data (like performance metrics) and a way to render overlays on top of standalone apps, something similar to how platforms discussed on fintech break down complex systems into usable layers.

You are right about the technical possibility. That is why I am focusing on the CSI data. Since the hardware for WiFi sensing is already present in the Quest, Meta would not need to add new sensors. My point is that if they provide the right API or a system level driver, we could have full body tracking with almost zero cost to the user. This approach solves the problem of blind spots from the cameras and does not require any extra devices. It is all about unlocking the potential of the hardware that is already in our hands.

For layout ideas, a Spiritual Destiny Matrix Chart is a good example of how complex data can be shown in a clear visual form. It helps arrange things like life path numbers, energy patterns, and compatibility in an easy-to-read structure, which is useful when designing overlays.

That is a great suggestion for the layout. Using a matrix structure would definitely help organize the complex data from the WiFi signals. However for us developers to make this happen we first need Meta to release a specific driver or an API that grants access to the raw CSI data. If they provide this low level access we could implement the signal processing ourselves and use your matrix design to display it perfectly. The goal is to show Meta that with just a small driver update the community could build incredible tracking tools.

Hi JURUSBANGOH,
Thank you for your detailed explanation and for sharing your vision.

Your approach makes a lot of sense, especially focusing on a native system-level integration rather than a third-party workaround. The idea of aligning it with something like built-in tracking features is definitely more realistic in the long term.

Is it possible to build it this way? Yes, it might be possible, but it would require proper alignment on scope, technical feasibility, and platform constraints. I think a short meeting would really help clarify everything and get us on the same page.

Could you please let me know what time works best for a short meeting so we can go through everything and align properly?
