Question

Is there a similar feature to Android Device Owner ?

Hi,

We are investigating a use case where we would need to manage Quest devices. Specifically clear an external app User Data. On android this is possible through Android Device Owner apps.

If we get it correctly, this is not supported on Horizon OS. There is the Meta mixed reality business subscription service | Meta for Work, however it is unclear for us if we would be able to manage external app User Data from it. And if our app would have some privilege on the device, to help the user by steering the experience.

Thanks

Cheers

Hey AT.Test,

Do you mind sharing more information about the intended use case? If I'm reading right, it sounds like you're looking for a feature that lets you add and remove devices/users from an organization using the Meta for Work MR business subscription service. As far as clearing external app User Data, are you referring to removing access to things like org-owned app licenses or deleting org-owned user accounts and their associated data?

I'm happy to look into this for you - let me know if I'm headed in the right direction.

Hi h.taylor,

The use case takes place in a patient monitoring environment. An assistant uses a third-party application to guide the experience of the patient wearing the virtual reality headset.
The "Companion" app communicate with the "device owner" app on the headset.

The assistant must be able to manage users on the device, ideally. Forwarding the command to the "device owner" app.

Is Meta for Work only an external portal to manage the devices or does it link to a local app which gets additonal priviledge ?
