Question

Provisioning Dev Headsets

Hello!

Can the Meta Community suggest what to do in this case?

We wish to set up a number of Quest 3/3S headsets (#30) for a course that teaches XR and using Godot+Quest as our development platform for labs.

We would prefer that all the Quest units are linked to a parent organization (the University) but since this is a dev course, we need the units in Developer mode. My rudimentary exploration of the options of creating an organization allows for "roles" and invited members, but there is no option to provision and assign headsets to individuals or groups. From what I understand, there is no obvious way for the "organization" to even own a headset.

What we would like:
Allocate all units to the organization
Limit installation of applications to specific side-loaded apps only
Assign units to specific groups

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

I am not sure one of your requirements makes sense.

Limit installation of applications to specific side-loaded apps only

If students are meant to change that side-loaded app it is possible to run arbitrary code, even if you could only allow certain apps with certain names to be installed on these devices this would not offer any protections.

Instead i would advise looking into a way to put the devices into a well defined state (such as by using adb to install the correct software and remove incorrect software) and work from there.
