Feedback & Questions on Horizon Studio: Custom Workflows, Desktop App, MCP, and HTML Prototyping

Hi everyone,

I recently watched the Developer State regarding the new Horizon Studio. While I’m really excited about the tool and its potential, I also have a few concerns and questions about how it will fit into my current development workflow. I’d love to get some insights from the dev team or hear if anyone else shares these thoughts!

Custom Workflows (Code & Models) My biggest worry right now is whether I’ll be able to maintain my current workflow. Will we still be able to easily import our own custom code and 3D models directly into the game? I really hope this level of freedom remains intact.

Dedicated Desktop Application During the premiere, I noticed that the mobile and browser versions were highlighted. Are there any plans to release a dedicated desktop application (for PC/Mac)?

External AI Integration (MCP) Are there any plans to support tools like MCP (Model Context Protocol)? It would be incredible to have a feature that allows external AI models (like Claude, for example) to interface with and control the application directly.

HTML Prototyping & AI "Transcription" My personal development style involves building game prototypes in a simple index.html environment first. Since I’m currently waiting for access to Horizon Studio, I’ve already built several game prototypes in HTML.

My fear is that I won't be able to accurately replicate the systems and mechanics I’ve built in HTML using the AI tools inside Horizon Studio. Are there any plans for a "transcription" or porting tool? For example, it would be amazing if an AI assistant could analyze an HTML/JS prototype and help port its logic 1:1 into the Horizon Studio engine. Once imported, we could then use the engine to polish and expand the game.

Thank you for your time and for all the hard work on Horizon Studio. I can't wait to get my hands on it and see what the future holds!

Best regards,

Norwo

Hi Norwo,

Thanks for watching the Developer state of the union and for taking the time to write this up. These are good questions.

Regarding your HTML prototypes, I think you're in a better position than you realize. We recently ran a creator competition where creators were asked to prototype in three.js first, with part of the prize tied to rebuilding those prototypes using the new tools.

The thinking there is exactly what you're describing: get your core loop tight in a fast, familiar environment, then bring that proven design into the new tools. Your existing prototypes are a foundation, not wasted work.

Coming in with a working prototype, clear mechanics, and a loop you already know is fun makes the rebuild far more straightforward than starting from a blank page.
Thanks,
Zee

Hello @VirtuallyARealDinosaur,

Thank you for your response. However, I wanted to ask about something concerning—a few hours after this post was published, I noticed that my MHCP member rank disappeared.

Did I do something wrong or break any rules that caused my rank to be removed? I really care about this community and want to clear things up. I participated in the competition and spent a lot of time improving my prototype because, even if I wouldn't win the competition, I would love for my game to be on Horizon.

Yesterday, I submitted a ticket about this to the Developer Support Program, but I saw a note there saying that the page will be retired in a few days. I truly apologize if I wrote anything that broke the rules or shouldn't have been posted—that was not my intention at all, I just wanted to ask about the things I saw in the Developer State trailer.

I would greatly appreciate any clarification regarding my rank.

Best regards,

Norwo

Hello!

Our forums can only show one role at a time across the platform regardless of the area you're looking at. I've looked at your account and you're still a part of the program.

You can check this by signing into the Developer Dashboard and checking the “Creator Program” tab for the “enrolled” status.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!
