Question

How can an existing MHCP creator update the studio name shown on avatar items?

Hi everyone,

I’m an enrolled MHCP creator and have several published avatar apparel items. My items currently display “By TGC_Grr8Franzini,” which is my personal Meta Horizon username. I need the seller/creator attribution to display my business name, Shorejack Threads, instead.

When I originally joined MHCP, I left the separate Studio name field blank accidentally. I believe the apparel storefront may therefore be using my Horizon username as the fallback creator name.

I contacted support and was given two suggestions:

  1. Change my Meta Horizon username to Shorejack Threads.
  2. Reapply to MHCP and enter Shorejack Threads as the Studio name.

Changing my username is not a practical solution because TGC_Grr8Franzini is my established VR identity and is also used in several games I play. I followed the second suggestion and submitted another MHCP application with Shorejack Threads entered as the Studio name, but I never received confirmation or any information about whether it would update my existing enrollment and its been awhile.

I also tried creating a developer team named Shorejack. However, when I select that team, the Creator Program and Digital Items sections disappear. My existing apparel catalog remains attached to my original enrolled creator organization, so creating a team does not appear to control the public seller name.

Has anyone successfully updated the Studio name or public “By” attribution for an existing MHCP avatar-apparel catalog?

I’m specifically trying to determine:

  • Whether the MHCP Studio name controls the public seller attribution.
  • Whether an existing enrollment’s Studio name can be updated.
  • Whether the change applies retroactively to already-published apparel.
  • How to preserve existing item IDs, sales history, payouts and ownership.
  • Whether there is a specific Creator Program or Digital Items support category for this request.

I’m not trying to change ownership, transfer the catalog or create a second creator identity. I only need the public creator attribution corrected from TGC_Grr8Franzini to Shorejack Threads while retaining my personal Horizon username. It seems like the easy fix is for someone in Meta to add the studio name to my account since there is no option to do so in the profile settings.

Any guidance from creators who have encountered this—or direction from a Meta account manager toward the appropriate process—would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you. I did open a support ticket on the subject. Ultimately they could not figure it out other than to just change my Meta username completely, which is not an option for me since I need it to remain the same as I have it or gaming purposes. I believe the easy fix is to just have someone in Meta add our studio name (our business name) to the account, but seems hard to find this information. I was hoping someone here had gone through the same thing and had an answer on the topic!
