Lighting

Hi, I am fairly new to Horizons and have started adding lights to my world. I got to about 8 dynamic lights and was maxed out. I have experience using Unity and am wondering about World's limitations. My scene is pretty dark so I am wondering if anyone can explain how the lighting system works in Worlds? I was hoping to get more overhead lighting in my scene. Does anyone know how many lights we can use of each dynamic/static or if there is a way to create an overhead sun that illuminates the entire scene/world? It's just so dark, and I need more lights! Please help! Thank you πŸ˜„

The environment gizmo  is a great way to add an overall light cast to the world. You can even add custom skydomes to dial in your look.

According to the creator manual section on dynamic lights, you will want to use a maximum of 20 dynamic lights per world. Static lights will be much more performant.

This tutorial from RJ_The_Creator also walks through different ways to light worlds and breaks down how the different gizmos work with each other.

Hi Ben! Thanks for responding. I saw an email that you had replied to the message in my inbox but was not able to see it. For some reason, I am having alot of trouble with the inbox and outbox messages on the community forums as the messages have disappeared and no longer there. I sent a request to tech support, and they are looking into why I am not receiving messages on the MHCP site. I will definitely be checking these links out so I can get a better understanding of the lighting. Thanks so much and hope you have a great weekend! 😊

Hello!

Thanks for posting about the messaging system not working for you. We've had at least 1 other person mention it so it's been raised to our Forum platform contacts already. I'll send your account in as another they can investigate.
