Question

Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2) never detected by Meta Al app on One UI 8.5

**TL;DR:** The Meta AI app never finds my glasses on two different Samsung devices running One UI 8.5 (Android 16). The same glasses paired first try on an iPhone. Looks like an OS/app-level issue, not hardware.

**Setup**

- Glasses: Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics (Gen 2)

- Phone: Galaxy S24 Ultra, One UI 8.5 (Android 16)

- Also tested: Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, also One UI 8.5 — same failure

- Meta AI app: latest Play Store version

**The problem**

The Meta AI app's scan returns nothing. Not "can't connect" — the glasses simply never appear in any of the pairing flows the app offers (case button, the "no case?" alternative flow, glasses worn, glasses in case).

Meanwhile the system Bluetooth menu *does* see them and pairs them as a regular headset (calls/media). So the glasses are advertising normally and the radio works — it's specifically the app's BLE scan that finds nothing.

**Confirmed the glasses are fine**

They paired on an iPhone on the first attempt, worked normally, then I unpaired and factory reset them.

**Already tried (all of it, multiple times)**

- Nearby devices + Location permission (Allow all the time, precise), system location toggle ON

- Wi-Fi on, no VPN, no private DNS

- Battery usage set to unrestricted

- Forgot the device in system Bluetooth before every attempt, no other BT devices connected

- Cleared Meta AI app cache/storage, cleared Bluetooth cache

- Uninstalled/reinstalled the app

- Factory reset: glasses, charging case, and the phone itself

- Auto Blocker disabled

- Network settings reset

- Pairing attempted within 20 cm, in a clean RF environment

**Questions**

1. Is anyone on One UI 8.5 / Android 16 pairing Ray-Ban Meta glasses successfully right now?

2. Is this a known BLE scanning regression on this build?

3. Has anyone found a working app version (older APK) or a developer-options workaround?

Happy to provide logs or test anything. Thanks.

Same issue here - adding my data point.

Device: Galaxy S25 Ultra SM-S938B

OS: One UI 8.5 - Android 16 - Build S938BXXSCCZH1 / S938BOWOCCZH1 / S938BXXSCCZH1 - Security patch Aug 5, 2026 - 561.77 MB update (Sept 7, 2026)

Glasses: Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 (brand new, box says "Made for iPhone")

Symptoms exactly like OP:

- System Bluetooth DOES find them and I can listen to music / calls as a regular headset.

- Meta AI app (latest from Play Store, all permissions granted - Location precise / Allow all the time, Nearby devices, Battery unrestricted) scan returns nothing. Glasses never appear in any flow (with case button, without case, worn, in case).

- Blue LED blinking slowly = pairing mode, so glasses are advertising.

- Tested on 2nd Android phone (also Android 15) - same failure, app doesn't find them.

- Tested on iPhone - paired on first try, updated firmware to latest using MY Instagram account on a borrowed iPhone, works perfectly.

- After firmware update, factory reset glasses (hold capture 15s until white -> blue) and forgot them in iPhone Bluetooth and in Meta AI.

- Back to S25 Ultra: Forgot in system Bluetooth before every attempt, cleared Bluetooth cache (show system apps), cleared Meta AI cache/storage, reinstalled app, reset network settings, disabled Auto Blocker, tried airplane mode toggle, tried within 20cm, no VPN/private DNS, tried Safe Mode - still nothing in Meta AI app.

So classic Bluetooth works, BLE scan from Meta AI app doesn't on One UI 8.5.

This looks like the One UI 8.5 LE Audio / Auracast change breaking BLE scanning for wearables. I can't disable LE Audio in developer options on S938BXXSCCZH1 anymore - toggle is gone in stable.

Happy to provide logs. Please escalate - S25 Ultra is unusable with Ray-Ban Meta right now.

After weeks of fighting this, I finally got it working. Posting it because I found nothing about it anywhere, and the symptom sends you chasing the wrong problem entirely.

**The actual problem: it's not Bluetooth**

In the Meta AI app, when adding a device, there are two separate entries for these glasses:

- Ray-Ban Meta

- **Ray-Ban Meta Optics**

If you have the Optics (prescription) version and you're in Europe, tapping the second one gives you a blank screen with a **"Coming Soon"** banner and no way forward. The app never starts scanning, so the glasses never show up. It's a regional block — the model apparently isn't enabled in the EU yet for regulatory reasons. Picking the generic "Ray-Ban Meta" entry doesn't help either, since it scans for a different device profile.

**Why it's so misleading**

The symptom looks exactly like a Bluetooth failure, and it isn't. I tried all of this with zero results:

- Nearby devices + Location permissions (always, precise), system location ON

- Wi-Fi on, no VPN, no private DNS, unrestricted battery

- Cleared app and Bluetooth cache/storage

- Uninstalled and reinstalled the app

- Factory reset: glasses, case, and the phone itself

- Network settings reset, Auto Blocker disabled

- Repeated everything on a second Samsung device (Tab S10 Ultra, same One UI build)

None of it matters, because the problem isn't on your phone. The telling detail: the glasses **do** appear in the system Bluetooth menu and pair as a normal headset, and they paired on an iPhone first try. The hardware is fine.

**What actually worked**

1. Install a VPN and connect to a **Mexico** server. Presumably any country where the model is available works — that's just the one I used.

2. Force stop the app, then reopen it with the VPN already running.

3. Go to add device → Ray-Ban Meta Optics.

4. Here's the weird part: the screen loads halfway. One half still shows the "Coming Soon" banner, but **the other half loads the real pairing menu**, and that one does detect the glasses.

5. With some patience (took me several tries — the screen is glitchy) you can tap the detected glasses and complete the initial pairing.

6. Close the app and reopen it. The glasses now show as linked, and you can finish setup normally from there.

7. **As soon as initial setup was done I turned the VPN off, and the glasses keep working completely normally, same as they did on the iPhone. The VPN is only needed for that first pairing.**

It's ugly and it's literally exploiting a rendering bug in the app, but it works and it doesn't tie you to anything afterwards.

**Caveats**

- Be patient on step 4 — the screen is half-broken and you have to keep at it.

- So far everything works with the VPN off. If anyone loses the pairing after an app update, please comment.

- Do this at your own risk: you're working around a manufacturer region restriction.

If this works for you, or if anyone finds a cleaner method, please share. And hopefully Meta enables this in the EU soon — selling glasses their own app won't let you set up makes very little sense.

Waw...thank you for posting this. This is the only thing that worked I spent hours and I'm still going to go above to the store and complain, they should test their products before selling. Now that I got it paired, none of the Ai features are working though because it's not available in Europe! The camera takes photos and video..but meta ai cannot answer questions.
