PTC v63 Release Thread

Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, several bugs were identified in PTC v62 and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v63 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v63 jump on over to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v63" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v63 issues too.

It's best if you can post each bug you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.

Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

For everyone concerned about file management natively on quest:

For moving, deleting, etc. instead of using 3rd party file managers, use the official Android files app launched through Activity Launcher.

If you want to edit a file, then launch both the 3rd party file manager and the Android official one, In the official one get the file and put it to for example downloads (Edit: Downloads is apparently protected, so use movies or any other). Edit the file in the 3rd party one and then use the official one again to put it back where it was.

I don't expect Meta to remove scoped storage after this update, so this probably going to be the only way for now.

Edit: You can just browse and export the files, not put new ones in. This was wrong

MrBIO We're not looking to edit files, we need to put Mod files (Skins, Guns, Levels) inside the tasty /Android/data folder.  Or the Apps need to move Mods outside /Android/data, like inside /Documents/Mods, but that's even worse with Android 12 linking each file to an app, so they wouldn't be able to read files placed by another app, unless they had Manage All Files access.  Android 12 was a mistake.

mrbio,

the Downloads folder holds special exclusions, preventing the user from selecting it

so actually, you need to create a NEW folder somewhere and select that,

_AND_ move files into it manually to access them

this update stripping access to scoped storage sounds very terrible for modders and mod users

I don't know why but im having issues with modding, I believe its the new update that basically just shut modding down i'm assuming this as mobile vr station won't work due to not having access to the android data files and I can no longer mod due to this, so just hoping im not the only one having issues modding with the mobile vr station app.

terrible update it will ruin many many things by the time this comes out and most of the community would have to downgrade just to use the good features that you removed
