PTC v63 Release Thread

Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, several bugs were identified in PTC v62 and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v63 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v63 jump on over to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v63" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v63 issues too.

It's best if you can post each bug you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.

Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

And I said that you can do it with the official files app.

Edit: You can just browse and export the files, not put new ones in

Meta, can you please start using the **bleep** depth sensor on the quest 3?
You're using it only for the setup and even then it is mostly camera-based. You had the chance with Depth API, but you didn't use it.

Edit: They have auto censor? Cool

I think removing being able to access the obb and data folders is not a good change since a good chunk of people use it to mod single player games that don't harm anyone and it will upset the modding community like me. I hope you revert the change, Thank You.

MrBIO I'm testing with the Files app right now on the headset, it offers no such features to copy/paste move files, just recent media, spatial videos, and some folders, but none are /Android.  I can share files to other online services.  Unless your talking about another app that isn't available via VR that I need to summon with an intent.  And I still see countless people posting about /Android/data for Android 13/14 and no one has mentioned the Files app, they using Wireless debugging to gain access.

halabibk CX File Explorer is still Scoped Storage, so it's locked out.  Only way I've found is requiring a PC and dropping the files into the /Android/Data folder manually.  Standalone is dead.

Everything seems ok, I had to turn on my PTC and update because v62 was getting buggy and loading times were horrible, much less bagging out on when I click people and images and avatars would not show up.  Even in v63 it is a little laggy.  But, my main issue and concern here is I have Mobile VR Station, which is a legitimate App for Quest 3 as it can be downloaded using Sidequest.  After going through some of that apps notes, it says that v63 will absolutely DO AWAY WITH MODS and SIDELOADING because it has locked out the folders that require the downloads to work.  I checked it in Mobile VR Station and is true... it requests that you choose a different folder.  Now, I like trying out different things, and when I bought my Quest 3, that is my device that I can use how I see fit, choose to set settings as I see fit, and put programs on that I see fit, so long as it isn't against the law or causes harm to anyone or my devices.  Now, Meta is taking away our rights/privileges to select options by taking them away.
Please do NOT do this.  I signed on as a Developer because I have high hopes to making some decent apps in the future, but if MODS cannot be put on it, then what is the point.  Anything, virtually, that can go on an Android Phone should be able to go on a Quest... being that it is nothing more than a supped up Android PHONE...yes it is a phone, without the Phone App, lol.  So come on, give us the option to place mods or new software on it.  I have found a way using different software that is legitimized by Meta so I wonder, if it is starting on the obvious ways, when will they hit the non-obvious?  Thank you.

I once tried putting the Playstation App and Remote Play on it, and did fine, until I had updated to v63... now they don't work at all.  😞

If you read what I said again, I'm talking about ANDROID files app, not the meta one. Most android devices have that app, same with the android settings app. As I said, you have to install activity launcher, search it and launch activity. Then you have access to every files on the device excluding the OS. As I said, that app cannot open for example .txt files so you have to copy the file and then put it somewhere where your 3rd party manager can access it.

Edit: You can just browse and export the files, not put new ones in
