PTC v69 Release Thread

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v69 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v69:

1) For issues: Go to our
Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v69" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v69 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

There is auto launch setting. System -> Developer

Wait, does the developer section show up even for people who aren't registered developers (actually any users can register)? If not, that could be a problem if auto-start is set to default. Either way, it shouldn't be the default setting.

    Anonymous and everyone else.

I can confirm that Content Adaptive Brightness Control is now present AND working.
I saw the difference immediately in loading screens. The backlight steadily adjusts to a smaller brightness to provide better contrast. I WILL test it out now in a dark horror game and I WILL report back on how big of a difference it makes.

Thanks Meta and the mods in the forums!

As I said, I tried the horror game.

My choice was phasmaphobia thanks to the really dark atmosphere.

And.... it works? It does lower the brightness significantly and you can immediately tell the difference when you turn on a flashlight. However, that is also kind of the problem. When a light source appears it really feels like you have gotten moisture on the lenses since every blackish color is now gray. But the difference that it makes most of the time is really night and day - literally. Now it is still an LCD panel so don't expect OLED like blacks but it is much better.

There is one bigger problem though and that is meta's decision to make the details in the blacks more pronounced and that makes the objects in the black look deep-fried:

In the headset, it is not as bad as in this picture but it kind of ruins the atmosphere a bit however you still get the deeper blacks so it is really a tradeoff. I did not manage to get a picture with it off however it was just a full gray picture with some moon reflections and didn't look black at all. Here you can see some actual black so thumbs up.

Overall it is still much better and I am going to use it because it really makes the dark experience better.
Thanks Meta! (Just hope you fix your update system)

Now I see what you mean.  Meta says an error has occurred when you use the wake word.  This headset gets less enjoyable each update

The ability to draw a boundary is now gone as well.

I'm seeing what you mean, it will only give me the circle boundaries and no further

Meh Meta Horizon.  I only went in once and it didn't impress me at all.  I'm really more into meditation apps, travel apps and movies than the social aspect of the headset.  But yea, all I get is the circle as well.

I'll have to wait for a couple of days to figure out why

Anonymous @Could it be that they increased the minimum dimension req again and that must be met before the option to create a custom boundary appears?

Would love to test myself but I’m still on 68

I know just enough about tech to look like I know what I'm doing.
