PTC v72 Release Thread

Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v72 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v72:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v72" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v72 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

Buetigame  I also got another non-ptc v72 update today in both my Q3 and QPro.

Like you say, after the update only the Build version is listed.  Q3 was same as yours, Build 5047332.12160.510.

For my QPro it's Build 5054528.8530.330.

My meta link pc app non-beta is still version v71.0.0.4512524.  I could update this to beta v72 but it seems to work ok with v71 so no point changing this for now.

All seems to work ok but I still need to long press/hold the power button on my Q3 to fully power off (not the usual  power of option panel from previous upgrade version).  My QPro still has the older UI menus and the 2 second press/hold power button to call up power off options is still there.

Maybe the new UI menus are only for the Q3/Q3s?

TomCgcmfcMaybe... didn't get the update for my Quest 2 either.

I think (maybe it's a wish) the power down works as it should - it's more hidden for sure.
Long-Press power button (2sec) as before > accu-options > power down.
That's where I found the "hidden" update ðŸ˜‰

And yes, beside the non-updated Meta Quest Link app persists to 71.0.0.451.524, everthing works as it should. Hopefully Meta will fix the "spreading files to root system drive" problem with the next update... anyway renaming the "RemoteDesktopCompanion.exe" fixes it, but was needed to pair Mixed Reality Link once... afterwards it can be renamend again and will be useless, as before.

Received the new UI!! But still haven't received the non PTC version 72. Still on V71,  unless I enter PTC V72

I had an update today, currently on 72 PTC  where if you check for updates, it now tells you that you're up to date, instead of no updates found.

Along with my latest non-ptc v72 updates on both my Q3 and QPro, I also a non-beta update today for my meta-link pc app = v72.0.0.500.353.  So at least now all my devices are on v72.  All seems to be working fine with standalone and PCVR with Link and Air Link.  I don't notice any differences in performance, but at least everything is stable.

Since v72 my QPro seems to take a lot longer to startup (~30 seconds before the meta logo starts spinning.  Also, both headsets seem to like to flash a passthrough screen before restarting to normal confirm boundary panel.

I'm still a little annoyed that in order to fully power off my Q3 I need to press/hold the power button until it turns off rather than the previous way which was to hold the power button for a couple of seconds and get a power off option panel.  I still get this power off option panel with my QPro, which still has the previous older UI home menus btw.  Cheers.
