PTC v72 Release Thread

Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v72 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v72:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v72" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v72 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

I guess I should be grateful that the v72 update didn't brick my headset.

I'd be very afraid to do a factory reset though.

I would understand to be afraid of a factory reset to my headset if I have alot of important stuff on my headset or do alot of modding to it. But I have neither to worried.

Start-up sequence change from previous versions:

Typical start-up sequence on my Quest 2 under v72:

Power on

screen with Meta logo and text "Meta Horizon OS". After a second or two the logo will spin briefly followed by

pass-through screen (one or two seconds) followed by home environment, no UI for slightly longer followed by

black screen with three oscillating dots (3-5 seconds) followed by

pass-through with boundary setup or confirmation and finally

home environment with UI.

previously the spinning logo would go to the three dots to pass-through with boundary setting/confirmation to home environment with UI.

Now startup takes longer an is visually unpleasant from switching back and forth between modes in a short time space

why are meta ai and automatically include mic audio still broken

NomadsAnIsland that 3 - 5 seconds of black screen I got for awhile since V72 was released, but don't know if you have the Meta Horizon Worlds Wording showing on the left in the black screen. Feel like Meta Horizon Worlds Portal will be loading automatically after startup in the near future

PenguinInChicago I feel bad for you on your issue, missing the automatic mic on is a pain to deal with.

Im in New Zealand is there a delay with 7.2 here , the MQ3 has updated to 7.1 but no sign of the newer 7.2 as yet ?

ohjays they rolled it back to PTC V72 as what I figure. You should be able to see the Announcement about it now.
