PTC v74 Release Thread

Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v74 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v74:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v74" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v74 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

I rebooted via the USB menu by pressing power and vol- buttons. Now charging is at 80% and still charging complete with steady orange charge led.

So they never fixed the charge issue with the v74 beta and just released it as an official update anyway with the same charge bug, genius move, now my headset is stuck on flashing orange and won't charge higher than 73%, good job Meta and with no option to revert to the previous version which had no issue with charging.  this is beyond imcompetency, SMH.

Every time I get an update I hope that the charging issue is resolved but looking at the orange light after big update this morning tells me I need to keep hoping.

TomCgcmfc I also got the second firmware update and in addition the MetaLink App Update to v74(.0.0.675.347)... it isn't fixed to 72Hz anymore!

Also everything works fine, but not exactly "better" than before 😉
(no "remove from library" or tray functionality of MetaLink 4exp)

So as well as not being able to charge above 76% after recieving the v74 update I noticed my left lense is flashing when I leave the usb c charge cable connected, I made a short video of the issue on my phone check it out below and you might want to check your headset for this issue as well. It's clearly not right and it only started happening after the latest update.

stereoman  I don't see this pulsing with my v74 Q3 while connected to my Q3 Elite battery strap (kinda like being connected to a charge cable).  I'm also not having any charging issues.  Both my headset and battery strap are charging to 100% using my Q3 charger/cable.

Maybe try another cable and make sure to use the stock Q3 charger.  Sometimes helps to turn the type-c charger connector 180deg.  Also, make sure you have a solid connection, preferably supported on your headstrap properly and not allowed to flop around.  Otherwise, contact meta support I guess.

Buetigame  Thanks for letting me know you got the non-beta v74 on the meta link pc app.  I switched off the settings/beta tab beta option and it updated to the same v74.0.0.675.347.  This only took a few seconds to update since the versions were the same.  All seems to be working fine.  Thanks again mate and best cheers.

I am on v74.1020 on my Quest 3 and charging is not progressing with a flashing orange charge led. Also I have noticed that in quick settings the volume slider does not reflect the device volume level. Although the volume toggle does not dot work when quick settings is open the volume toggle works as before when the quick settings are closed. I wonder if v74 will be bypassed and the next stable firmware will be v75.

NicoEng  Not that I don't believe you mate, but I find it pretty confusing why some are having soooo many v74 issues, while others like my self do not.  With the latest non-PTC v74 updates, both my Q3/512Gb and QPro are working very well with standalone and PCVR using Link and Air Link.

Also, disappointing that your issues were not picked up and fixed during the PTC period.  Unfortunately, I've seen this in the past and it's the main reason I stopped participating in the PTC program (except for occasionally opting in/out of the meta-link pc app beta).  One thing I found helped me in the past was to unenroll in the PTC program, get rid of my developer account, and do a factory reset.  This seemed to fix a peck of problems, for me anyway.

Anyway, I hope you, and others, get these v74 issues resolved soon and/or that the next update (v75?) resolves these.  Cheers.

TomCgcmfc I was actually wondering along the same line.

I had multiple issues when I was on the PTC v74 at the beginning. Had multiple issues with PCVR (posted about them in this thread). To fix it I dropped from the PTC and it brought me back to v72. Everything went back to normal.

Just recently I allowed my Quest 3 to update to the release version of v74 (I turned on the switches to allow it to update). I decided to make the move because I had seen in the discord for Virtual Desktop that the most recent update had fixed the repeated lag spikes and many of the other issues.

Once the install completed I went in and started testing every known issue I could think of that had been spoken/posted about. Couldn't find any of them occurring.

I'm thinking that the next step people might want to try is to erase (Drop from the PTC if you are on it) and reset up their Quest as new and see if it fixes the issues they are experiencing.

I'm just trying to figure out why it would be such a drastic difference between the users posting here and the general population of users of the Quest (2,3,3s).

If there was a huge number of users that were experiencing these problems, you would see news posted all over the place about it. Class-action lawsuits. So that means that, most likely, this is a limited number of users.

I hope everyone gets back to gaming and everything gets sorted soon.
