v.79 PTC Release Thread

Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v79 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v79:

1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v79" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v79 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

Finally, my wired link is working. I didn't need to update the headset to v.81. In fact, I'm thinking about doing so after the bad experience (I had 3 months without a wired connection).I'm still using V79.1032 on my gogles. I did update the Meta Quest Link PC software to v.81 in PTC program, the drivers were updated, and it now connects right away. My USB link no longer flickers.. 😍😎ðŸĪŠ

I'm just confirming (with testing for 5 minutes), my Y cable now works that had previously had rapid disconnects.  I will try on different motherboard ports as well, as I know prior updates changed the compatibility in a way USB3 Gen 1 vs Gen 2 ports for some reason.

Got a "downgrade" yesterday... it show's an update, restart, same Build 5115411.14920.520 (Q3) but v79.1031, not 33. But... and there is a big BUT... I've got an update for the Desktop App to v79(.0.0.1143.381) and it updated the "Oculus"-Driver... finally.

And what should I say? It works like a charm!

AirLink at it's best, no single hickup or "distortion" while starting a PCVR app like "Ven VR Adventure" (Test game  for me after updating Meta Link Software). Resolution, Refreshrates... everthing where it should be!

So Meta, keep v81 in the PTC for a while because it will change too much.
v79 is stable now and is a keeper for sure!

Got another (auto-)update for my Q3 at 6.9.25 to build 5115411.16430.520 and it stays at v79.1031. Nothing changed so far...

So I've found it's time to update my Q2:
- first one got it to build 5171691.9010.150 and v79.1031 at 2.8.25
- todays one pushed it to build 5171691.11600.150 and v79.1032
- get up another one to same build, v79.1033 and stays there...

Strange, but it seems to work - everything like a charm incl. AirLink.
