v.79 PTC Release Thread

Got two problems after installing version 79 (still no navigator):

• Third Party apps are not resizable (Firefox as example)
• MTP is not working (data-transfer via USB). Quest not showing up in Windows after clicking the USB-datatransfer connection message. 

I've the same problem than bowo !

There is no navigator. Should I be grateful to Meta for bringing back travel mode and remote desktop? Come on, this is what they should do. Still no window auto follow, is this a difficult feature? But we have seen many system windows that automatically follow, Like boundary warning and power menu. So why?

Does Link work for anyone? 

Xypheron Link works for me as long as you enable developer mode in your mobile app for your headset. I don't know why this is a requirement now for this version.

offbeatkid I opted out of the PTC as V79 has broken link for me. However, it looks like it does not revert back to the last v78 public, it still keeps me on v79.

Does v79 prevent downgrades?

xemmastormx1 so I changed cables, and now I think I have the same issue in terms i.e needing dev mode? The other cable stopped the rapid disconnects, but still no link.  

It seems much like v76, v79 has created even further usb sensitivities.

EDIT: After going through support steps (deleting link app fully, etc), nothing work, but it started to work immediately once I enabled dev mode in the app.

So that is it. There must be a bug.  Still dont' have hand control after coming out of link, which is unfortunate. 

xemmastormx1 thank you for finding the dev mode trick here. Given that you cannot downgrade from PTV v79, I would've been stuck without any PCVR capabilities until they fixed it.

I have a feeling that V79 has already been pushed to the official channel. After resetting my Quest 3 from V78.1028, it became V78 and no longer has a version suffix. And when I updated to V79, it also had no suffix.I'm not sure if I didn't receive the push for v79.1028 or if I was indeed on v79.1028 and just had an issue with the version number displayed? After all, since V76, the suffixes from 1024 to 1028 have been displayed continuously (although this is also strange, different major versions have the same continuous suffix).Also, my link is working properly.

quantum0300 When tech support told me to factory reset and turn off PTC, it did factory reset to straight v79 but then asked to update to a 79.xxx version.

I am curious how your link works, while at least two of us here have to enable dev mode to get it to work. And for me, even for the link app to show the green connection light, let alone launch the link app on the headset.

Xypheron So I think my guess is correct, V79 has already been pushed to the official channel (which is why there is no 1029 after resetting). And I haven't received a push from 1029 yet, I'm stuck on V79.To be honest, there is not much difference in functionality between V79 and V78.1028, but rather fewer bugs: it has a travel mode, remote desktop, backend management, and the ability to use links. So I really don't have a reason to update 1029, even if it's pushed to me.The official version of the user experience is better, better, much better than PTC.
