Hey Everyone,

The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v83 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.

If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v83:

1) For issues: Go to our Quest Forums and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v83" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v83 issues too.

2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.

Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues.

We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!

This is definitely a different Navigator and just when I was getting used to the Navigator in ver 81 lol. Updated both my Pro and Quest 2 so far so good. I'll post more later.

I just updated to v83ptc and it messed EVERYTHING. I always get an error at boot saying I can not join at them moment (join what?) and I can not see any of my installed APP. Just the Horizon+ section has content inside. I had to disable the new navigator and revert to the old one to see them again.

I had to restart my headset about 3 times to get everything to show up. I also get that message sometimes. There is a totorial with some help on using the new Navigator. Some of my apps are choppy bot QGO helps release memory which helps.

I tried to restart several times... no way. To see my app again I have to disable the navigator. This release is full of bugs but I know that Meta doesn't read this forum so...

Release notes for v83 are absent, I can only see those up to v81.

steve_40 set the delivery country to US.... the release notes aren't shown in all countries yet.

It's too troublesome to place the exit option of the immersive app in the secondary menu in version v83. Can it be changed back to version v81 where the app can be directly exited from the menu?

First thoughts on V83PTC... (still exploring)

Dislike:

1. Cant find a way to go into my virtual home. My only option seems to be passthrough, which I prefer - but I liked the option to go into my virtual space.

2. Cant find how to filter my apps... installed ones show on the new navigator, but I don't see anyway to list just the uninstalled ones.

3. Get that stupid Worlds icon OFF of my toolbar. I use Worlds periodically, but not enough to warrant it taking space on a quick launch toolbar. It's like you want really badly for us use it! :-)

4. Battery life seems greatly reduced - full charge drains in about 20 minutes regardless of what I'm doing. Pinned apps in my space? (Avatar mirror, RetroArch, Instagram (LOVE the 3d images and video conversion!))

Enjoy:

1. I like where you're going with the pinning apps to the personal passthrough space but I worry about how much background processing it takes to keep those apps visible and running.

2. Interface seems "snappier / more responsive" somehow.

You can find Loft in Worlds.

My Pro and Quest 2 both run way hotter and battery life is real bad . Quest 2 I use a battery pack and Pro I use a long power cord and keep it plugged in while using it and it's not charging just keeps pace.

I've got 417 titles or so but ALL only shows installed titles no uninstalled or actual ALL as before. I play a titles for awhile then uninstall it for something different for awhile. I've got at least 5 years of games and apps. I can't remember them all and now I have to go to the store to find them. Bunk! Needs not installed back.

I like the new Navigator but it's going to need some tweaks. I use QGO to release memory or some of my games are choppy and that seems to fix the memory problem for now.

I guess I can try turning off Navigator and use the old menu to find ALL and NOT INSTALLED until there's a fix.

Have you tried looking in your Library on the Meta Horizon+ app on your phone, or even under your Meta Account on the web?

I noticed that after the update to version 83, the Cable Link works worse. According to the Oculus Debug Tool, I'm getting spikes in the transfer rate at 700 MBit/s (Oculus Link Detailed --> Encode/Transfer/Decode). Unfortunately, this causes stuttering. In the previous version (v81), I could even stream stably at 900 Mbit/s without stuttering. I am using the original Meta Link Cable.

Hard to say if its an issue with the new OS update of the headset or with the Meta Link App installed on PC.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the comments on my post about apps not installed. Lots of help. I just liked the easy way to install uninstalled apps it was convenient and would be nice to have back.

Also I played Real VR Fishing from 100% charged battery and got 50 minutes until Internet connection dropped. Had about 30% battery left but no Internet.

Headset gets pretty warm. I'm hoping some of these things get worked out.

One more note . If I leave the headset on standby without being on the charger it goes dead quick. This morning I put on my Pro and battery said 70% then started counting down 69 68 67 ect. went all the way to 0 and shut off. This seems to happen unless the charger is plugged in. I turned it off and put it on the charger but as soon as I put the headset on my head it was already on. I guess that's normal but I don't remember it that way.

On V83 and getting that can't connect error on boot and also starts out initially very bright then mellows down. Also when playing golf+ when going from 1 shot to the next it goes very bright on transition then dims back.
