How to Disable Auto Startup of Meta Horizon Link

tep 1. right click on the meta horizon link app and open file location. File needed will most likely be named "Client" under the "oculus-client" folder. Do not click, but keep this window open.

Step 2. Press the Windows key and R

Step 3. Type in the box shell:startup 

Now you have both the startup and Oculus-Client folders open.

Step 4. Go back to the Oculus window and single-click on "Client" and copy the file (CTRL+C)

Step 5. Now paste the file (CTRL+V) into the startup folder you just opened.

Step 6. Now go to settings/apps/startup (or search, startup apps) and you should see "Client.exe" app on there and now you can turn it off.

Step 7. Test and let me know how it goes :)

    Some people that have complained about this also want to prevent all the Oculus services from running, which your post doesn't address 🤷‍♂️. Some users have posted a comprehensive solution.

      Just copy paste the Meta Horizon Link shortcut to the Startup folder so that it will be available in Startup items in task manager and you can disable it.

      It did not help, however helped this:  go to file location, here you can find Meta Horizon folder (C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon), then right click on it and go to properties-security-edit, here find line OVRLibraryService, this is automated package which starts program, in window deny all permissions for it, so it wouldn't be able to launch it, that should disable autostart.

      By doing this you restrict automated services, but your account should still have access so you will be able to start it manually. IDK how to enable autostart but i suppose just return permissions.

      It actually helped only for once, it somehow started on second startup (I fully turned off my PC). I can't delete this post for some reason.

        looks like im going to delete the meta horizon link because as a company they have decided to not allow me to control something on my own computer when every other platform allows it.

        The OP solution didn't works for me.

        This solution works for me (at least after just one restart of my PC): 

        Meta Horizon Link launches on startup. It should not do this. | Meta Community Forums - 1364841

        1. Win + R
        2. type services.msc
        3. scroll to Oculus VR Runtime Service, it should say automatic under startup type if this is the problem.
        4. right click on it
        5. click properties
        6. change startup type to manual
        bada bing bada boom

        Meta must add an option to choose if we want launch Meta Horizon Link at startup and/or minimised...
