Can't add a second user to my Oculus Quest 2

I am trying to add a second user to my oculus and when I go to do it and press the add accounts button it comes up with an error straight away saying "Something went wrong. Please try again later." It also keeps trying to get me to put in a code on www.meta.com/device even when i try to play a game it closes it and brings up that screen. Any help would be apricated

    Hey Playjamin! We definitely want for you to be able to play your games and access all the features of your headset, and we're here to help! 

     

    From what you're saying, it sounds like the root cause of this is that your headset hasn't been paired since updating to a Meta account. Have you been able to put in your code from your headset to http://www.meta.com/device? Once you do that while logged in to your account, it should pair, and then you should be able to do everything and get into your games! 

     

    Let us know if that works, or if you need any help along the way. If you get any error messages while trying to do that, send us a screenshot so we can figure out what's happening!

    Hey everyone! Just wanted to jump in here and report that I'll be locking this thread since it is pretty old now, which means it could have a different root cause than the original post back in 2022.

      for pairing  headset to meta account and adding another account as above, how do I get the code from headset again?

      Hi iam having the same issue  been all day at this, and i cant add an account. And it gives me the same error code

      I need help!!!! We just bought 7 Meta Quest 2 headsets for school and adding a 2nd account is just not working. I've been spending all day on this and they will not add. error every time when adding in the code meta.com/device. that never ever works. I am needing this set up for my students and it will not go. I've moved to the next email and headset and tried the same thing. Nothing. Pairs totally fine to the 1st account (admin) but adding #2 breaks in error every time!! Please some one who knows, help us. This is for students learning.

        Have you tried this?

        IF you have a second Meta account and IF you follow these steps exactly it will work…

        ADD SECOND/THIRD/FOURTH ACCOUNTS to same device

        1) In a browser, log out of your PRIMARY meta account  

        2) In the same browser tab, log into your second Meta account using SECONDARY account login info (different email/username/pass)

        3) In the same browser tab, in the address bar, type meta.com/device

        4) Put on your Quest 2 device, go to Settings/Accounts/Add Account and follow prompts to get the 8 digit pairing code. 

        5) Enter the pairing code into the browser tab that lists your SECONDARY login info from Step 3. This should add the SECONDARY new account to the same device

      What if I’m unable to do that then what do I do I bought this from someone else and don’t know their account what do I do

        Hello MicroManager104, we understand you're having some trouble adding a secondary account to your device, and we are more than happy to clear things up for you! If you do not own the account that is currently on the headset, then its best to remove the account completely.

         

        In order to wipe the headset clean and start from scratch all you'll need to do is perform a factory reset on the device. Once its been reset all you need to do is follow the instructions in the headset to complete setup. If you have any more questions we'll be here, all you have to do is let us know!

    same problem doesn't work   You keep entering the 8 digit code it appears to work only to put on your headset to read the error   Something went wrong. Please try again later.'

      raisedbyjunkies If you're having troubles pairing the headset to the mobile app via the code and are logged into the right account, this could be part of the ongoing issue we've been working to get right for everyone. 

       

      You can post further information or any troubleshooting you've tested out in this thread here for us.

        I have the same problem and when I enter the code it says error but on my phone is says I am good

      I'm having the same problem.  8 didn't code gets entered app says paired then put VR on for it to say AN ERROR OCCURRED PLEASE TRY AGAIN.

        Same for me as well, I had no problem pairing and adding the admin account but after entering the 8 digit code on my phone, it says that it worked but I get an  error in the headset and can't get past that page.

        I’ve made a second account!!

        You have to switch to a private browser. Then go to meta.com/device, that’s when you see a fresh meta page asking you to sign in or make an account. Make your new account with a new email and password, you’ll get a email with a code to confirm, after that, on your oculus make your second account as you normally do. When you get to the part just put the number in with your new account. Hope this helps!

    SOLUTION! Leave it to Reddit to lead me to the solution.

      Thank you.  That worked!  I do not understand why technology companies make things so difficult.  Adding additional accounts should be as easy as going into the admin account and adding them, not the buffoonery of signing into each account separately.  Three times the aggravation!

    I JUST FOUND OUT!!! It’s a little tedious tho. You have to create another Meta/ Facebook account and use the code on a different device than the one you previously used.

    Yep, tried the factory reset. Tried from my phone and the computer. Tried on multiple days with multiple attempts. No luck, please help.

    yup. What the previous user said. The directions aren't really that clear. When it comes to adding a second user, the verification that they are asking for is not for your account (your facebook), but for the 2nd account you are trying to add. I really struggled because I was hoping I could add my child without needing any secondary account. This just isn't possible.

    went on chat help. make a meta account on pc for new user of 2nd account. directed me to my meta log in.

    told me to log out (top right) then create account for new user. (second account)

    did this then went back on quest 2 and accounts. this time it let me create 2nd user account on new quest 2.

    ps when on chat line they requested my phone number, so they rang me back and were very helpful and patience considering i was on pc and quest 2 at same time.

    checked the 2 quest 2's on walkabout golf in 'private game' and worked fine.

    Apps off 1st original quest 2 downloaded ok as well.
