Can't install quest link

I've tried all the troubleshooting options a thousand times now so please do not tell me to check minimum requirements or windows defender or antivirus or run as an administrator or delete the files from appdata and restart. I've done that, believe me. Also I tried installing it on another older computer in my house and it worked fine first try, so it's not my ISP or router. I also made sure that my chipset drivers are up to date.

It downloads fine but every time it either stalls while installing or it gives an error message telling me to restart. When it tells me to restart the log always says Dawn.Setup.CreateLibraryServiceStep failed.

Also when I tried to contact support with my serial number it told me support is not available for this device. But it's a brand new quest 3s. And I tried putting the serial number in again swapping the zeroes for the letter O and it told me that the serial number is incorrect. So I'm pretty sure the number was correct the first time. What kind of nonsense is all this?

  • Well good news, it finally worked. I guess all I needed to do is be whiny and snarky on the internet.

In all seriousness though after checking one last time I found some acronis thing and got rid of it. Overlooked it since I never installed it in the first place. Hadn't ever been updated since the day I bought my pc. So I'm guessing that's what was causing the problem, hopefully my frustration helps someone someday.

But that SN business is still stupid.

  • OK, if it installs on your old computer but not your new one it's likely the problem is with your settings on your new computer. Try to replicate the settings on your old one. As for the serial number make sure you are using the one that is on the box, not the one on your headset as it's different. Good luck!

Thankfully I haven't thrown away the box just yet so I was able to get the SN from it. Still tells me that support is not available. Not sure what's more ridiculous, the idea that I would have to use an SN from a disposable box rather than what's printed on the device itself or the fact that there's no support for either one. Still I appreciate your attempt to help.

Tragic_Johnson I wondered about that too but there is a kind of logic to it. The headset and the two controllers each have their own serial number so that's why the one on the box is for the whole set. Luckily I kept that too as I needed it once 😁

    Hey there Tragic_Johnson!

We hear you're having problems downloading the Meta Quest Link app as well as contacting our support team, we'd love to help you out in getting this problem resolved!

Now we see that you've already went through many steps to try and get the Meta Quest Link app installed, but since they've not seem to done the trick we'd like to help out.

We'd like to have a closer look into this with you, could you please send us a private message by selecting our name to get to our profile page, or by clicking here: https://metaque.st/CommunitySupport. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message.

As for the serial number not being recognized by our system, you mentioned that it was a brand new device and those sometimes need a couple of days to be completely registered in our system, which would be the cause for the serial number not working to contact support. We'd love to look into this with you however, so please send us a message and we'll take a look into what the problem might be.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing back from you!

      Hey,

That's great to hear that you got it working and can now enjoy virtual PC gaming!

If you ever encounter anymore problems, then don't hesitate to let us know, we're always here and happy to help out.

As for the serial number business, we'd recommend waiting  a few days if you've only just recently activated your headset, to ensure that it's recognized by our system. In the meantime, if you're still looking to get in touch with our support team, then there is a small workaround that you could do that doesn't require the serial number to contact them, all you have to do for that is:

      • Go to https://www.meta.com/help/support/
      • Click ''Orders, returns, delivery and payments''
      • Click ''My issue is not listed here''
      • Choose support line - Live Chat, Email or WhatsApp

We hope this helped and that you have lots of fun in the Metaverse!

  • I can't install software too,

Process C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers\oculus-driver.exe exited with code -2 (failure).

    that error on log.

I'm not connecting my Quest2 regularly but yesterday, i want to my friend will try VR gaming but it's failed to link to pc via cable and wirelessly which working previous.

There was a notification that update required and i tried to install it but it failed. Then i removed app for clean install, now i can't even install app, i lost software completely.

Tried uninstall with uninstallers which cleaning traces, removed all oculus folders, updated my windows 11 23h2 to 25h2 but nothing helped.

    My pc specs,

    Ryzen 9 3900x
    Rog X570-f Gaming board

    2x32GB DDR4 g.skill rams
    MSI RTX 3090 SuprimX
3x gigabyte M27Q monitors (tried with single monitor still no luck)

    Tried safe mode, no luck.
